I found an very old post regarding this problem but it didn't really have a resolution. I have latest BIAB and up-to-date Win 11 Pro. Keyboard works fine but sustain pedal (going through Channel 1, CC Type #64 Sustain Pedal, Variable range 0-127) is not operative. Need suggestions on how to trouble shoot and get this working. Thanks

My systain pedal work fine as it always has. I have build 1125e. How about you?

If you start the MIDI Monitor in BIAB, play a few notes on your keyboard, you should see them added to the list.
This would also work for your sustain pedal. If there is response from the keyboard but not the sustain pedal, I would suspect the pedal itself, or the connection from the pedal into your keyboard.

What model keyboard are you using?

So, let me understand. The sustain pedal messages are being received by BIAB (MIDI Monitor), but the Sustain function is not working? Is that correct?

Hate to beat a dead horse, but AT is on to someting regarding the midi monitor. Combine that with the fact that mine works fine I thought I would first show my midi monitor below. Now if yours is the same as mine than your problem is in the configuration of Options-midi/audio driver Setup. I have shown that on my system also below.

A man of few words. OK. So then you need to Reset to Factory Settings (that is what the protocol says).

Same except I'm using ASIO. See attached. BTW, it works fine with all other products. This is BIAB specific

Jimi, click on record R and then click on filter. If CC 64 is not checked it will not record your sustain pedal. It must be checked to record CC64. The picture shows my unchecked setting, this I can not record CC64. Note that I do not record in BiaB so this is not a problem for me.

When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

When I switch to ASIO my keyboard goes silent. What happens when you switch to MME.

And by th e way, Maro has a good point. Even though I don't record in BIAB, I do have that check box checked in the Midi Record window. So that may explain why mine is working when I simply play the piano.

It's checked. And this occurs even if not recording

Have you tried return to factory settings as DrDan has suggested?
Options/return to factory settings/most

When weird things like this happen here a return to factory settings almost always solves the problem.

{edit} Another thing to try is to uncheck that CC64 option, close BiaB, restart BiaB, and recheck CC64. Sometimes computers lie to us humans.

What instrument patch are you using? Not all instruments can deliver 'sustain'.
If you change the instrument patch to a 'Piano', does the sustain function work then?

It would be great to hear back from the O/P with a little more detail on the latest status.

Sorry, been out of town today. I have attached 2 files regarding patches. Where is the CC64 option. I can't find it now, jeez. Regarding factory reset are you saying full on everything factory reset? If so I have half a notion to just do a total reinstall but this time not install RealBand since I don't use it (use CuBase). I think I covered everyone

GOT IT! Started following all the patches. Turns out, on the VST instrument that I am using for piano (Arturia Piano V2) there is a MIDI config option that was sending sustaing through 128 and not 64. Thank you everyone for you help. You guys led me to the answer!
