Although I wanted to be in the band, I was lucky to get that 4F. Viet Nam soon started to erupt, and there was no guarantee I wouldn't end up in a dangerous position. While I don't always agree with what my government asks of its servicemen and servicewomen, I have great respect for those who do our country's bidding. Mrs. Notes and I played for free at the nursing home of the VA hospital in West Palm Beach quite a few years in a row. It was our way of saying "Thanks". We're now playing for the nursing home at the VA in St.Lucie County, and they are going to start to pay us a minimal amount. I guess it's their way of saying "Thank you" back to us. Notes ♫
