Hi, witch one I need to use (and learn)?
For now I need only to practice with various instruments, digital piano, digital drum, akai ewi.
Those software have an enormous set of functions to learn, and the right choice will save a lot of time.

Firstly, welcome.

My advice would be to start with BIAB. Take your time, start small, and get the 'hang of how it operates'.

Check out the many video tutorials, including many for beginners at this web site:

I agree, start with BiaB.

Once you get comfortable with BiaB you might want to try RealBand.

I also agree. IMHO BiaB would be the easiest and fastest way to achieve your goal.

The process a lot of users follow - especially those of us who hve been using BIAB and PT (RB's prdecessor) - for a log time - is to 'rough out' a song in BIAB then 'polish' in RB which was in the past more straightforward to use than BIAB for some editing and tweaking purposes. Not so now but learn with BIAB and then open RB. Take a look at the GUI and see if you find it more 'tranparent' than BIAB which I certianly do. Everything is there in front of you. But lots of users stick in BIAB to record and do tweaks as they want. But BIAB is the place to start.

Lalalalera.

as a long time pg user here are my comments.
(bb = biab..rb = realband)

1..dont think of it as either bb or rb.
sometimes i use both depending on my needs....
eg some of the songs in my sig used both bb and rb.
2..best bet is to read the manuals for both bb and rb and see how both individually or together might meet your checklist of needs.
imho there are no shortcuts. both bb and rb are chock full of features and complexities....and each has features the other does not.
ie...youll find both bb and rb have their plusses and minuses.
for example...
3..i like bb for the speed of generation but i far far prefer rb for both audio and midi editing. because when im doing such in rb i can see all tracks in relation to each other (see the rb manual tracks view)..
the bb audio editor only shows one track at a time.
some other points of many...
4..if your considering useing odd time signatures imho the way rb handles these is superior as i can see the divisions in the bar in tracks view graphically. eg 6/8 will show 8 cells in each bar in tracks view.

ive only covered a few points otherwise i would have to type pages and pages so the best solution as i said is compare the features of both bb and rb in the manual....and then dive into each and see which of the unique features might be usefull to you.

also if your interested... in the pg tips forum is a series of tips that might
be usefull re rb. for example because rb has 256 tracks this allows a ton of flexibility in comping...and also if maybe you want to create drum solos at some point imho rb is the better solution.
my final comment is many times ill use bb to get a scratch song idea down
and then move over to rb for its advantages.
i often think conceptually...
bb for flushing out the song idea and creating guide bed tracks and rb for further song detailed work due to its 256 tracks.

in conclusion dont think of bb versus rb...
both together can be a very powerfull combination in the creativity
process.
i urge you to experiment with both after reading the manuals for each because you might miss a key usefull feature of either otherwise.

happiness.

om
