Star Gazing

It is midnight and you are laying in you lounge chair gazing at the stars. Some twinkle and sometimes more than one twinkles at the same time. Then all of a sudden a meteor storm. You get very excited, but it passes very quickly and it is back to the boring night sky.

BiaB style - Hum Synth Sitar Groove
Tempo - 65 BPM

I deleted the bass, drum, and string tracks.
Piano - Lounge Lizard - Reed based - 10 Modern Hybrid
Guitar - Ascension - PD MoonScapes PR
I am playing my Xaviere 335 HB.
Via my keyboard controller I am playing the following Kontakt patches: Bass - Amadeus - Basses and String Boutique 2
Cellos - Amadeus - Cellos and Solid State Strings
Staccato strings - Amadeus - Full String Ensemble
Legato Strings - Amadeus - Full String Ensemble and TSC2 Choir of Strings

As always all comments are welcomed

Mario,

Beautiful... Big and open like a clear midnight sky.

I love the way you have layered all the sounds. The strings sound particularly awesome.

Gorgeous stuff, Mario. Super composition, very nicely arranged and played. You're a shooting star for sure!

Ambient, chill, relaxing.

First song of the day. Now I,m ruined. Don't want to get up out of this chair......

See what you did?

Well done.

Hi Mario! You have a real knack for using music to move people to imagined situations. You must be a deep thinker and studier of detail.

Initially, I heard the pad illustrating the vast expanse as a backdrop, but then wondered why it rested after each phrase, preferring it to continue on uninterrupted like the night sky. Then I realised that each break was like an intake of breath in awe and wonder of what was being seen. I’m not sure if this is what you intended, but it’s what the piece evoked in me.

A wonderful piece to lay back with eyes closed and let the music trigger the imagination!

Andrew D

Thanx Bob for this kind review. Thanx for noticing the strings. It took me awhile to get the right blended patches to come up with that sounds.

Thanx so much Herb. I'm not sure what I can do about your chair. I do know that once I sit in my recliner I don't want to get out of it either!

Thanx so much Andrew for this wonderful review. Me a deep thinker? Since I have CRS if I am I will never remember it! Detail is because I spent 39 years in research where everything you do must be documented.

To tell the truth those rests came about because I had pads that just kept playing and no matter what I did I couldn't get them the way I wanted. So being as lazy as I am I just silenced them.

Hey Mario - it seems a few of us on this forum are doing all we can to use BIAB to develop and record our musical ideas before we lose our faculties or physical abilities. Regarding the pads, let's call it an 'accidental feature'!

Whew, I didn't get here until a quarter-to-three, but I'm sure you get the Blues reference. Well this was still quite magical at that late hour too. Heavy winks of Mario Magic. It really kicked into gear when the strings came in with their quarter-note, stuccato punch. Excellent build, and such soothing sounds that can only accompany the best dreams.

Enjoy whatever happens!

This is a beautiful piece, Mario. Love the whole vibe. The strings are excellent and I wish I could do stuff like that with BiaB samples, but there's nothing to compare. Although I can't recall all of your posts this one is probably my favourite to date.

I love watching the night sky while listening to relaxing instrumental music - so I'm the perfect target audience.
We have something like this on TV (see Space Night) and your song would fit right in [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

Thanx Marty. I'm glad you commented on those staccato strings. I'm trying to add new things to my songs.

Thanx Chay. One can do a lot with MIDI if they have good sound sources and a little MIDI knowledge.
