Hi Chay!
I don't think I've heard any of your previous versions, so will have to go back and have a listen.

Firstly, those marimba - a great choice providing harmonically and rhythmically to the tune. I loved the way you built up through various sections of the song, and at times, it was reminiscent of something Mike Oldfield would have produced - which is a good thing - I think it was the combo of the marimba and the tone of the first lead guitar. And then the sax brought it home. Well done and good listen!

Chay,

Another great version. Excellent choice of instruments and mix. You orchestrate these pieces so well. Enjoyed!

Did you remaster or master this?
Your mixes are always good and this is outstanding - the subtle dynamics make it "pop."
The chops and tone of the sax is perfect for the vibe.
The soundstage on our Kalis is really excellent.
Guess I need to re-listen to the older version. smile

Well done,

J&B

Thanks, Andrew. When I first started using BiaB I began by using single Styles only, first to create backing tracks for 2 old songs of mine - both of which have yet to be sorted as I can't record at home - then 2 instrumentals inspired by sections of old songs, then te first 100% new one was "Deya Flows". The original BiaB instrumental no longer exists and replacing it is the strings-based instrumental "Deya Flows [BaRock], which is now the soundtrack to my "Deya Flows" video. Following the above V2 came "Deya Flows V3: Transformations", which was originally just over 8 minutes in length, but earlier this year I completely restructured it and it's now a few seconds shorter than the previous ones. That's probably still on the 2nd page of this forum. Finally came "Deya Flows V4: Dance Care love" which is 1/3 shorter than the latter the rest at 4:13. I've recently done a channel-swap and remix of that, but it's yet to be posted.

Also, see my reply to Andrew at the top of this page as the V1 has now been deleted and reaplaced with the strings-based "Deya Flosws [BaRock]", which you've heard in the "Deay Flows" video.

Chay, another nicely arranged tune. Those "world sounds" you opened this one with work really well to my ears with your mystical universe. Another nice one!

I haven't many or any songs on the forum with a marimba. It works so well here. The guitar solo meshes in nicely and then a smooth transition to the sax. Well done.

Chay, this is fantastic.
Loved that marimba. I would have never guessed it would sound good with a B3 but you made it happen.
Super guitar and sax leads
You certainly have the knack to blend RTs into the perfect mix.
Outstanding job

Hi Chay.

Another excellent instrumental version. I love the kalimba and marimba. They sound really warm and inviting to listen to. You really have a flair for crafting fine instrumental arrangements. Moreover, as your arrangement grows, you seamlessly lead the listener along a highly engaging musical journey.

Very nice!

Thanks, EzS. I've used marimba and kalimba on a few of my instrumentals and sometimes marimba is all that's needed, while sometimes the added kalimba fills the sound out. I've tried to use steel drums, but the never sound as good as marimba and kalimba together. I was surprised the first time I used them together as the BiaB kalimba doesn't sound like actual African kalmias, though they do vary in tone.

Thanks, Mario! I've actually used marimba, with or without the kalimba, on a few of my instrumentals and they all also include the B3. Thanks to BiaB I've found that all kinds of world instruments can used in ways I wouldn't have previously thought possible.

Thnaks for the postive response, Noel. When I'm creating in BiaB it's always a musical journery putting all of the parts together. 'Journey' is a good word and probably why I also wanted to do a couple of trains instrumentals: "Aya Rocks V2: Sun Train" and "Isle of Yu Train Ride".
