This is another song that I rediscovered when going through my collection of unfinished material. I started this song a number of years ago, and I've tried a couple times over the years to complete it. While I was satisfied with the melody and chord progression, getting a final set of lyrics that 'worked' always eluded me. Towards the end of last year, I tried again. This time the stars seemed to align for me.

With the help of Synthesizer V for vocals (using the Natalie 2 vocaloid), this is where my somewhat long and roundabout journey took me.

I hope you enjoy it.

Good song, with a strong "Carpenters" vibe that I really like.
Add some vocal harmonies, and it really sounds like her.
Beautiful, a little melancholic, but still full of positive energy.
Enjoyed my listen.

Wow, this was so beautiful, Noel! And you're always so positive! I am not ignorant of the beauty in the world, but the bad stuff is hard to escape. However, we need lovely songs like this to balance things out. Great work, I'm humming it already!

Quite a lovely song, Noel. The world needs more pretty melodies with heartfelt, optimistic lyrics. Nice backing, and super job with the vocalist. The chord progression and arrangement power the song along nicely, too.

A very happy song indeed. smile

A very uplifting song Noel,

Sometimes we all need the shot in the arm that this song gives, to remind us how lucky that we are. With all the negativity in our lives at the moment, it’s little gems like this that shake us out of the doldrums. A really good write and mix, well worth completing and the wait.

Kind regards.

Hi, Noel.

These songs are hard, and you do them so well.

And even with synth voices (which work very well!) they still sound like you, because you've got a style that is your own.

Nice! smile

Hi Noel!
I read others’ comments before listening and realised I was in for a treat. Sure enough!

The music and singing really does reflect a matter-of-fact view of the singer being very grateful. There is so much to be thankful for and in awe of - not only in nature but also in the goodness of others.

An uplifting song! Well done!

Noel, I am so glad you are going through these unfinished gems. A wonderful melody and a cool lift of bounce from the band. LOVE the lyrics, and Natalie is my fav from Synth V. Yep, that piano is so good. The whole band does exactly what it needs to do and when it needs to do it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

What I like most about this is the lyrics, but it's an excellent production all around.

Hey BD.

Thanks so much for having a listen. smile I really appreciate your comments, especially the comparison to The Carpenters. I have been fan of The Carpenters since I first heard them back in the late 1960s. I'm glad you liked the song. This one was a slow one to grow.

Thank you again,

Hi Rob.

Thanks for visiting smile In this day and age, it's pretty hard not to be influenced by all the nastiness, turmoil and injustices that are everywhere around the world right now. Sometimes, though, I like to remember that there are also millions of great things to be thankful for. I think that part of the reason that I couldn't get these lyrics finished over the years is because I wasn't old enough to appreciate just how wonderful and how valuable life is. I'm old now, and that has made a difference to my perspective.

Thanks for taking the time.

Hey Ron.

Thank you for visiting, having a listen and passing on your thoughts. It's taken a while, but I'm finally feeling comfortable with Synth V. The version 2 voices are so much easier to work with than the original voices. I love being able to write songs and create a female vocal for them. It adds a different dimension to my songwriting and one that I really appreciate.

Hi KW.

Thanks for dropping in. In the end, this song turned out much better than I had hoped. Once I started working on it with a female vocal, new ideas came to mind that opened a few more doors of creativity. On reflection, I think that Synth V provided a springboard for me to finally get this song across the finish line.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.

Hi David.

Thanks heaps for taking the time to listen and review. I appreciate it. I honestly don't try to create synth voices that reflect my style of vocals but, I guess that at the end of the day, I can't avoid it because I use how I would sing the lyrics as the model for how I adjust the voices. The same applies to much of the pronunciation. I spend quite a bit of time on trying to get the voices to sound human. Natalie is one of the easiest to work with. I also find Synth V2 much easier to work with than the previous version of the program. I think I'm finally working out how to get the best out of the software.

“When I gaze across the mountains
And see a dazzling blue, blue day
Or when I watch a drifting butterfly
As it zigzags along its way
I know a world of wonder”

We often wonder over these views also, Noel.
This is a beautiful song and worth the wait of completion.

Each day is a gift in this world of wonder.
And songs like this remind us to focus on the positive.
So thank you!

Your Synth vocalist has a lovely voice and the BiaB session guys are excellent.
Excellent mix and we love that MST piano.

Lovely!

"This world is creation’s gift
It’s a miracles’ playground
Here on this planetary merry-go-round"

Dazzling lyrics straight to the point, you always look on the bright sides of life and this song really captures those wonders. And "I thank the stars that for a little while/I get to call it home" is the attitude we should always have also during the difficult times.

Beautiful melody and chords, everything just clicks, stars have been aligned perfectly to you. Very nice work with the vocals, even when it's a female vocalist, the voice still sounds like you, I enjoy that. The arrangement is perfect for the message.

I vote for this to become the (inter)national anthem of Earth.

Hi Noel,

A very lovely song! And Natalie has indeed very nice vocals. I have no idea how easy it is to work with that synth, because all twists in her voice had to brought in manually, I think. And that takes time.
But now back to the song; The lyrics are for one day in future, I fear. Or in the past. But they also have a promise in them; hope.
As i started with, you made a lovely song, Noel. And the melody... I love that.
Great work!

Hi WB.

Thanks for taking time to have a listen and comment smile These lyrics were definitely 'slow cooked' over many years. I don't know if that has made them better or worse, but at least I managed to get a final product this time around. When it comes to lyrics, everything I do is based on Pat Pattison (mostly), Andrea Stolpe and floyd jane (quite a bit), and with a dash of Steve Seskin and Beth Nielsen Chapman. They have all been excellent teachers and have helped me understand the intricacies of lyric writing in different ways.

I appreciate the visit!

Hi Alan.

I always smile when I see that you've visited a song of mine. Thank you so much for taking the time smile That was very astute of your to notice the chord progression. I like the progression 1 - 3 - 4 (a) when 3 is a secondary dominant 7th (e.g. C - E7 - F), and (b) when 3 is the diatonic minor triad (e.g. C - Em - F). Both are very useful ways of varying a 1 - 4 chord progression. In addition, I sincerely appreciate your comments. I love working with the Natalie vocaloid in Synth V. Sometimes, a female voice adds a dimension to my songs that I can't achieve with my own vocals.

Thanks again and may many good things come you way.

Hi, Noel. I listened to "I Will Always Be There" and "World of Wonder." You have a delightful way of making your choruses lift and be quite different from the verses yet is done so naturally. It adds a lot of interest to the songs. "I Will Always Be There" is a gentle caring song that comes through in the melody which gives life to the lyrics. "World of Wonder" is thought provoking as well as lovely. This kind of songwriting needs to come back into the mainstream and calm the world back down from all the tribulations we see.
Best to you, John
