https://soundclick.com/song/15191789Body and Soul entered into the public domain in January 2026. I sang and did a harp solo. It's a daunting song, but I did it anyway. I'm all for you, body and soul I spend my days in longing And wondering why it's me you're wronging I tell you, I mean it I'm all for you, body and soul I can't believe it, it's hard to conceive it That you'd turn away romance Are you pretending? It looks like the ending Unless I could have one more chance to prove, dear My life a wreck you're making You know I'm yours for just the taking I'd gladly surrender Myself to you, body and soul

Rob,
This is an absolutely stunning cover of this song. One of your very best vocals. Such awesome phrasing and so nuanced. The arrangement, mix and tracks selection is perfect. LOVE the harmonica solo.
A new favorite!

Love the production, instrumentation and solos in this song, but I think both the style and lyrics demand a really good female jazz vocalist, either a Fiverr lady or Suno.

Ha! Super job, Rob. VERY finely sung vocals with some deliciously nuanced lines. Love the harp solo, too. The overall arrangement is quite traditional, and the song VERY well known, but I'm left with the impression of hearing something fresh. That's not easy to do. So...well done! The tradeoff with the guitar soloist is a treat. That BiaB performer is Oliver Gannon, Peter's brother. Love his stuff. He used to have his own PG Music app, "The Jazz Guitarist", but it's gone now. I can still play a pretty mean "A Foggy Day" though. The band is really nice, too. BiaB started with a focus on jazz backing tracks, and they always sound WAY better than fine to my ears. A shame we so seldom hear them on this forum. Great job!

I think both the style and lyrics demand a really good female jazz vocalist.... Right now, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra are rolling in their graves...; )

A new favorite! Bob Bob, thanks so much! As I've said many times, I don't have a lot of confidence vocally, so this motivates me to keep plugging away.

And thanks for mentioning OG! One of my main ways to practice harp is to set up a tune where I trade eights with Oliver. I have done this so much I feel like I know the guy. One of the great things you can do with BIAB. Would love to hear your "A Foggy Day" someday!

Hi Rob.
You've create a fine presentation here. I love what you've done and how you put it together. When I listen to you play harmonica, I always come away wishing that I had learned to play the instrument. It's such a soulful sound.Terrific arrangement, production, instrumentals and vocals.
I enjoyed it. --Noel

You're a good pianist, I think that lends itself well to the chromatic harmonica layout. The best harmonica player in the world, Howard Levy, is a good pianist. GIve it a shot! To you or anyone interested, I have a Soundclick page of 23 BIAB backed harmonica instrumentals. It's called The HarpBreak Kid. Here is a link to it: https://www.soundclick.com/theharpbreakkid/?content=songs

Hi Rob,
Why did you ever use AI with such a voice? It sounds amazing! I agree with all the positive comments here, although I'm not really a fan of jazz. But the way you sang it here almost threatens to change my opinion of jazz...

Hey Bob,
Well, you certainly made this one your own!
Vocal sounds good to me, very unique, and works well for this material. Harp is great! I enjoyed the guitar part too.
Nicely done, enjoyed!

Hi Rob! A wonderful version of this song - while I am aware of the original, I am not well versed in it - no pun intended.
I know you don’t always favour your singing and have used Suno of late - and this is not going to be an ‘AI vs the rest’ comment from me - I am increasingly becoming of the view that there is something to be treasured about people singing in with their own voice. We are often told that public speaking is most people’s greatest fear - then how so much more to sing before others? But personally speaking, there is also something so very uplifting and soul-exposing to hear a person singing - both for the singer and the listener. I am not sure if this is the right word, but almost feels ‘sacred’.
My wife has a voice recording on her phone of her late mother leaving a message - just a routine everyday message - and I know she will listen to her Mum’s voice from time to time. My hope and joy would be that my family and friends would listen to my songs once I have moved on and it would give them another reminder and aspect of who I was and what I found so much enjoyment in.
Rob - thank you for sharing your singing with us through this song. It was a pleasure to listen!
Andrew

Rob- thank you for sharing your singing with us through this song. It was a pleasure to listen! Andrew What a wonderful, eloquently put comment! I always sing whether I use Suno or not, because Suno has to copy my vocal. If I like my vocal, I use it. But usually, I don't like my vocal. With Body and Soul, I just got lucky and the result was not too bad. So I posted it. I do put a fair amount of effort into the vocal. I want a good result. But nobody hears my bad results. If they did, I think they'd agree that Suno is the better option. Most of the time, I am an awful singer. So Suno makes me very happy. Because in the end, it's my song that matters most to me. I truly wish I was a better singer, it's something I've always wanted in my life. But it was not to be. Again, if you heard some of my awful vocals, I think you'd agree. The Body and Soul vocal was an exception. That's why I went with it. I'll keep trying to sing well, but the odds are good that Suno will win out. Hope folks understand that. Thanks. NOTE TO EVERYONE: THE SONG HIT NUMBER ONE ON SOUNDCLICK! THANKS TO FORUM SUPPORT!!!

Janice has long loved this song and you made a warm and wonderful version.
She said she could picture Fred Astaire dancing with Ginger. It sounds like it could've been in one of their movies.
Your harp, as always, is a gem.
You and the BiaB guys made for a fine band and the mix well supports it all.
Enjoyed it,
J&B

Glad you enjoyed the harp. TBH, I struggled with it and I'm still not sure if what I did was "correct." But folks seem to like it, and as my old blues teacher would say, "If it sounds good, it is good."
