I just bought the HP Pavilion dv6-3122us laptop yesterday. I couldn't resist the cyber deals. I also wanted a Win 7 computer with 4 Gigs Ram and 500 HD.
I am trying to install my Akoustik Piano software on it and not sure I can transfer my registration and rights to move it there. I'm waiting for an email that would get me past the log in process.
Are there other good recording programs that I could use with my Roland FP4.
Or any other advice to get rid of the bloatware on it.

To get rid of the bloatware, you should first make sure you have created your recovery DVD's (unless you purchased them separately). There is a command in HP to do that (that way, you can always get back to a factory install). Then download and run PC Decrapifier (that's what it's called). I've used it a number of times on new PC installs and it works pretty well. It gives you the choice of what to remove, so you have a lot of flexibility.

Joan, I use Audacity to record. You need to know what you want to record, ie. Stereo and bit rate. Others are better suited than I to suggest why.
It makes it easier, for your whole project then is in the one application, and you can trim, fade in and out, and add effects.
But you can do the same in RealBand or some other DAW you might have.
Music Creator sold here, gives you the TTS-1 synth and a 'recording' package for $39.00, which if your system is 64 bit gives you the synth you don't have for the VSC Dxi won't work with 64 bit.

Thanks for that information. I haven't thought about recording using Audacity but that is a great option. Since I want just piano synths and don't mix any other accompaniments with my recordings, I have used Akoustik Piano because it gives me a great Steinway D sound. That is what I'm looking for.
Would Music Creator give me something similar to Akoustik piano.
I'm going to get the PC Decrapifier and make a DVD recovery DVD.

Akoustik piano is a high end piano plugin software. Those other programs only record. You need to get Akoustik piano working if that's what you want.

Thanks, I'll try to make progress in getting Akoustik Piano working on this new HP. My email to the help section didn't produce any results yet. I wonder if I can buy another license from Native Instruments for using it on another computer.
Who is familiar with Native Instruments present software--Is Kontakt 4 their replacement for Akoustik Piano. I saw they are 50% off until tomorrow. Would I need a piano like their "New York Concert Grand" to go with that?
