BIAB has a large amount of audio material content. But it is not that convenient to use. You need to input chords, generate, and so on.
I recently learned about Giglad. Giglad is a bit like the software version of the YAMAHA GENOS.
So, I have been wondering about one thing. Can BIAB directly turn the current BIAB program into Giglad, following the concept of a YAMAHA electronic keyboard? There could be an intro, a verse section, four variations, and an ending. You can use the software to input chords for playback, or you can directly control it with a keyboard. Anyway, BIAB already has a lot of material. Can it be made directly into something like Giglad?

I am sure with the right motivation they could, but BiaB is an auto accompaniment program has been for over 30 years. I can't see them turning it into s0mething else. It has always been aimed at music track creation and practice/learning tool. It assists Musicians to create tracks they can't play themselves. If you are asking, can it develop further into using more creative content i would say yes. This looks like native Instruments and a sample based DAW were merged. i would bet it can be used in just about any daw program and driven by midi prompts. Have you used it yet?

babymusic, The concept of live arranger was asked over and over. I, myself asked for that quite a few times. There was a member on the forum that presented a working concept. The problem is - Real Tracks are not short MIDI snippets as Yamaha uses in their styles. They are long Audio performances and often there are better and less than better takes of same chord sequences. BIAB algorithm randomizes and glues together these performance "takes" when you generate a track. This is not a "live" process. To do an arranger each style has to be manually curated to pick out best parts so output is very consistent. Basically a giant Rompler with pitch & stretch capability. Overall, it is awesome idea that should definitely be explored by PGM, but it is a large uptake. The largest style memory of YAMAHA GENO is only 3GB, and the machine memory is 15GB. BIAB has 200GB of content. I went in to look at the content, but I couldn't quite understand it. Anyway, what I mean is that if BIAB could become GIGLAD, it would be more popular.

"if BIAB could become GIGLAD, it would be more popular." That is a good question, but a subjective one. BiaB is used by a lot of different people, many of whom may never use an arranger or arranger software. So more popular to whom? Only those who want that type of functionality. TShis has been an issue at this site for years. Folks see a great idea of a need they personally like, but hundreds of others would never use it. So, it becomes a question of would this drive sales and if so, what is the development cost vs the return on investment. Literally the software would be more popular if PGM added everything folks want but at what cost to the integrity of the software coding.

if one over simplifies bb then it becomes just a scratch song idea generator. which it can do of course.
ive done a ton of rough song sketches useing bb and rb. if one wants a ruff demo.
just load up rb and use all midi tracks ... very fast for song sketches.
instantaneous track genning plus 250 tracks.
the REAL catch 22 is simplify an app too much and it will frustrate lots of creators as features are lost. its a no win for the developer.
we tried to simplify apps when i worked in tech...it became a
'complain fest' by the user base.
if one wants a simple app for roughing out a song there are apps like chordpulse being one....or use all midi in rb as i said.
there is no escaping the hard truth that ya gotta put in the work to do a song there are no shortcuts.
simplify and one limits ones options....and people complain.
i estimate to do one of my songs takes about 2 weeks from original idea to finished song. it HAS saved me time useing bb/rb compared to years ago useing say session musos.
no simple solution imho.
if you want to see the challenges of creating music apps by pg and other app developers take C and assembler courses for a few months and i guarantee youll
go 'oh man this is darn difficult'...particularly understanding the intricacies of the OS platform one is dealing with.

Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums!
