Interesting that BIAB standard wma files (bit rate) are below where people listen these days, but the audiophile 16bit 44.1k is above where most people listen these days. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/0249qFkg/Sample-Rates-BIAB.jpg) The times they are a changing.

Marty...this is such a fun song to listen to and the video is a perfect compliment to it....Bill is the icing on the cake here...adding a unique element to another BabuMusic classic...your vocals (especially the BGV's) are really top-notch here...somewhere at your house there's a music factory churning them out...each song you produce is different than the next and you write and arrange them masterfully!...Sir, you are the master of the complete package!

Hey You Three, Everything you folks do is fantastic, but this one raises the bar even higher. B.D. hit the nail on the head - would be a Gary Moore classic - uh, not the TV guy from the fifties; rather, the guy who used to play guitar and sing the heck out of Blues tunes - that guy. Everything is so perfect. I particularly like the strong drums and bass. They give Janice's voice and Peter's guitar a superlative bed. And the key modulations kept pumping new energy into the song. In a single word - WOW! Alan Thanks Al! And we much appreciate the mention of the drums, bass and the mods. It took a lot of “auditions” to select those tracks. J&B

It would be great if you could send a MIDI file - send it to beta@pgmusic.com or post a Dropbox link to it. Seems like it should be an easy problem to address.

David, I resent being compared to pigs! (Kidding). Thanks for the kind words about my notes. I actually had a membership card in 1970 for some semi-official semi-pretentious Society of Audiophiles. I think I passed their written test (which says nothing about my hearing). I wear hearing aides now to give me back some high frequency, but even without them I can hear the difference in a song prepared with WMA versus WAV files. I have even stumped several audio engineers with what I could hear.

... or exported to a DAW... Can you send us an example of a 6/8 MIDI file that imports 'correctly' into your DAW, and an example of one that does not? As per your request here are my screen shots. If you want the MIDI files I can redo the EZKeys and drum loops, I deleted them after the screen dumps.

Hi, I would love a Real Track of a High String Guitar. For years a staple of country productions and used to great effect by The Eagles. It’s difficult to point out with an example, as it affords percussive texture without getting in the way. Just equalizing the existing acoustic guitars is a poor substitute. Pizzicato strings is a great effect to be able to use to boost a section without getting in the way. High Strings - Again it’s a wonderful way to add depth and shine without muddying the mix.

Herb, So, what's not to like about this? I would say, "Not a thing." Every track contributes as I suspect you intended it to. This has a contemporary sound that would probably do well on both the country and pop charts. Your music is always well worth the time to listen. This one put a smile on my face. I've done a lot of traveling in my time (42 countries and all but 2 states) - i can empathize with the desire to go anywhere with some you care for - and to keep gpoing wherever. Nicely done in all respects. Alan Thanks Alan. I've had the philosophy for a long time to add nothing to the music that isn't necessary. (see my signature below) Less is more in many cases. Thanks for listening.

Notes. excellent post. what i'm basically suggesting is an updated bar graphic so users have a visual guide showing the 'cels' (useing additional vertical lines ?) and how the cel divisions visually change depending on chosen odd time sig. ie a picture is worth a thousand words kinda idea. thanks for your comments. appreciate any other ideas you have. cos the aim of this thread is to explore ways to keep users of odd time sigs happy without a major rewrite of bb code. maybe its easy to do the updated cel graphics ? only pg can answer that. ................................................................................................................................... Rharv. great stuff rharv. given your in depth skills i'm sure users new to rb would find very usefull a vid covering such rb aspects as how to.. 1..mix different tempos in one song. eg lets say 7/4 morphing into another different tempo then back to 7/4 kind of idea. and then another tempo change for the solos and another for the coda ? or some advanced ways to do changeing jazz tempos in a jazz song. at various time points. i am not a jazz expert...but some users really into the jazz genre might find this very usefull.... includeing an example song showing 'freeform' and 'improv.' ie...'how to do a jazz song in rb with varying tempos' kind of idea. because there are many pg users into the jazz genre. and pg content offers lots of different jazz styles. 2..use of fractional tempos in above in conjunction with pg content. 3..other advanced ways of doing neat tricks in rb. i'm lousy at doing vids and also vision impaired even though the surgeons have done a great job recently improving my vision which i'm obviously ecstatic about. so if you could do a you tube vid showing creating a mixed tempo song ...i'm sure people would find it usefull. ie real world case including also fractional tempos. as you and i know rb has some very interesting tricks up its sleeve. but its sad that often new users dont dig into them and thus miss some very usefull features that would help a user create songs. fyi...recently i looked at a very high end but costly daw. though it had some neat tricks itself it didnt have some rb features...and...thus...i would miss certain rb features if i switched to it. in conclusion it would be grrrreat if you did a vid...and maybe the icing on the cake might be includeing midi tricks due to rb's great strength in midi features. feel free also to include rb tips ive posted in the tips forum. with the rb 2024 update things are getting very exciting... yippee 256 tracks and i can now do vocal comping more easily. poor jeff must get fed up with my suggestions..lol... but its all about makeing rb fantastic for users. imho rb needs just a bit more 'finessing' and thus 'magnifico'. happiness. om

I find Mr Matt Finley's archived contribution that's linked to this post to be exceedingly useful on a practical, technical standpoint. However, I say that I myself find myself to be highly annoyed with the question itself every time it surfaces on the forum, because as a dyed in the wool audiophile with perfect hearing and immaculate taste, I simply cannot comprehend the lack of self-respect that would come from groveling in the dirt with pigs. Asking whether some cheap bargain basement variety of an audio file is that the same caliber as the audiophile version is like asking what is the better choice at University, Cambridge, or any good school at Oxford, or Pink Hill Community College in Redneck County? Or what is the more suitable beverage? Real Champagne from France, or bubbling sewage water from the local tap? Or what is the better musical choice for an evening of listening? Live tickets to the London Philharmonic, or some squalid bohemian evening sitting on some vinyl couch listening to Spotify? You shock and offend the delicate sensibilities of the true audiophile by even raising the question. It is a horror. Any true audiophile knows that it has nothing to do with the sound itself, and everything to do with the absolute obstinate personality that refuses to compromise its dignity and roll around on the ground with common grunts! There! Steady on man and choose your crowd before it chooses you!!

Often, I'll consider the numbered 'slots' in the matrix cells instead of bars. So for 5/4 I'll man the first cell 3 beats, and the second 2 (or vice versa). Then the 2 cells equal one bar of music. Same for the next two cells and so on. The advantage here is you can put a chord on any of the 5 beats in the bar of music. The disadvantage is that it won't work well if you want to export notation. I don't know if it's possible for PG to change it and still remain back compatible. I commend PG for the back compatibility, and if it means I need a few work-around methods, it's OK with me. Notes ♫

Hi, Mike. Pleasant melody, good varied arrangement. I would have preferred a touch (more) reverb on the Irish flute, but that's just a nit. Nice listen all the way through! ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Thanks for listening David. I appreciate your comment about reverb. I always second-guess myself when it comes to reverb - have I used too much or too little? My usual MO is to err on the side of caution. Cheers, Mike That was nice. The lyrics are sad. It was easy to follow along with the melody. Thanks Herb. Glad you enjoyed it. Mike

WOW, this is a knock-me-off-my-seat-and-get-me-on-my-feet kinda song. I'd love to take a road trip with ya, Herb. This is such a good write. Not sure of the bandmates you fired, but the ones you finally hired are just perfect. Love the lyrics and the melody you made for them. You've really found the magic button on these synths. Guitars are perfect in their response. So well played.

Oh, you can't go wrong with Sam Cooke --well, at least you can't go wrong with one of his songs. I asked my wife if we could move to New Zealand. What a terrific take on this beauty. I've played this in so many bands. It was actually one I could play and sing at the same time. hehe I liked ending it with a fast walk to the end --like Bring it on home, boys! Your vocal is peerfect and the production is fabulous. You always pick the best bandmates. That piano is sensational. What a great feell you have going on here. Sam himself would be tapping his toes to this one. So well done, Nigel. Do you take requests? hehe

Duh. Jesus is everywhere, right? Haha I like (with a little concern) how you are personifying these synths. Still you get along so well with them. I love this whole production. Outstanding mix. Those harmonies are crafted by a master craftsman. Glad you gave them an a cappella (almost) space. Another terrific composition and production, Dan. Always inspirational.

Ahhhh Carl Jung and a quite interesting theory. Those Swiss are deep thinkers, I understand he and Freud were "buddies" ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Nice work, the pedal steel was a nice touch and your bass is always in the pocket. Thanks, Steve. I wouldn't ask either of them to give an honest opinion of the other. HI Marty, This is a great song with a big sound. I agree with the comments about the pedal steel - it's perfect as you used it. Your vocal is outstanding on this - well on all of them, actually. Nice band and those bgvs are so good! You know how to create and present a great song/production. I totally enjoyed it from first note to last. Take care, my friend. Alan Thanks, Alan. Bill created the track; all I did was drop it into place. Much appreciated, my friend. Marty, what a great song I really liked your bass lines And your vocals And your lyrics And your mix I licked everything about this song Thanks, Mario. I liked your comment. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) And everything else you do.
