This version must be close to the original. I know this song was an old traditional folk-song once.
Some Brit pop/rock band named Queen covered this one once, but somehow they couldn't agree on which style to choose. They made it into a sort of mix-match thingy. I don't think they where ever able to make it big in showbiz.

If you like that, howzabout Bluegrass "Dark Side of the Moon"? Heard this on the radio and was impressed.

Yes there is some hilarious Hayseed Dixie stuff about – but what could be weirder than bluegrass covers of hard rockin’ tunes?

Easy. Bossa Nova covers of the cream of late 70s and early 80s punk/new wave.

There is an interesting twist with this band. According to legend, the singers (there is a regular rotation of lead vocalist) cannot know the originals before launching into the covers, but I don’t know if they can prove that this is indeed the case.

Don’t want to spoil the party but I find with all of these things the joke wears pretty thin after 2 or 3 tracks.

This Austrian outfit also put a different slant on Boehemian Rhapsody, well worth a watch, as these guys though singing this, are also pretty tight at playing brass too.

I caught a CBC special a while back about Walter Ostenak, accordian player with 17 grammys to his name. I think the concert he plays at as a yearly event is in the Queensmount Arena in Kitchener, Ontario. Anyway one of the featured events of the evening is that Walter gets up and plays with the headlining rock group. He has done this a number of times and some of the preformances are pretty good. Some are, well interesting. Walter is not a rock player and some of the RnRers can't play a decent polka beat. However it was all done in good fun and everybody: players and audience loved the interesting mix of styles and instruments. DennisD

Anyone who can have that much fun with the music is a treat to me.

Ya gotta be good at what you do to be a clown and pull it off.

Great stuff all.

The cool thing is that you can come up with this kind of stuff quite easily using biab and/or rb. Just plug in chord changes to "Us and Them" or any other unlikely, traditional rock tune you would like, pull up and apply a bluegrass or bossa style, and have some fun with the result.

Absolutely loved it!!! AWESOME stuff! Freddy is probably turning in his grave, but in this case, who really cares. This was really well done by those boys!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
