Wow I'm havin' so much fun reading all your responses. I never thought I would get this kind of response. Thanks so much to all of you. I think I've got several new ideas for songs just from your suggestions. We have to do this more often. I'm laughing my @ss off.

Don't copycat someone else's stuff, like James T's, find yer own catchy nick.

Because I think that originality certainly does count...

My favs so far: Captain Kook and Poop Deck Ed----

funny: Harbor Oar---I Am Not An Oar! (rofl)

I'm going to toss in Jetsled Eddy but I think I like Poop Deck Ed better.

Of course, if you could find some one with a boat or pontoon you could make up some good pictures of your "craft".

Pat,

You had some really good ones in there! But I have to give you special kudos for:

"Frigate me Knot"

"Yacht Knot Do That"

Those are really good! Or maybe it's a "southern thang" to appreciate those.

Wait ................... I left out:

"Some Beach!"

Hilarious! Maybe you can start a second career in comedy.

Thanks for the kind words, Don and Bob...
I'm hoping the economy will allow me to keep my day job. ;-)

But things aren't good at work, and it's looking more and more like I'll be needing a second career in SOMETHING... maybe as soon as January

It took me a while to get that one-yacht not do that. You have to think like a redneck to get that one. Excellent.

These are getting better all the time.

Thanks so much. I'm going to turn a bunch of those into songs.

I'd love to get into comedy song gigs. But my wife says I'm not funny.

Does anyone's wife think they are funny?

So far "captain kook" seems to be the winner.

you know, There are so many of us wanting to do the same sort of entertaining, I wish there were a way to trade ORIGINAL material so we could build off one anothers' creativity. Let's say we had 10 people who wanted to write and perform humorous original songs. If each wrote and contributed 3 or 4 songs, the resulting 30 or 40 songs would be enough for everybody to be up and running in a hurry. The story of my life is to have a good idea, but run out of steam before I can bring it to fruition. Getting multiple people on board would share the creative burden and push the entire group to a reasonable starting point fairly quickly. If we had more than 10 members, then we'd start to acquire so much material that we could pick and choose songs for topical performances, like your special interest boating crowd. If anybody is interested in such a collaboration, let me know. We can set up a private yahoo group for kicking ideas and songs around. We could even group brainstorm the lyrics. I am a firm believer that the collective intellect tends to yield better results than any one intellect working alone.

yes, but not in a particularly good way.

But seriously, humor is a highly individual thing. In any given crowd, your sense of humor will gel with some but not others. Once you figure out which is which, play to those who are laughing.

Good call. That's still my favorite too. It is the perfect combination of nautical reference, humor, and it designates you to be the captain, so you get to say what you want.

I can crack other people up all day, but the wife?

She doesn't always "get" very many of the jokes I tell.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
