Hi All,

This is just a confidence check really...

I've installed the 2011 and the 20 pac onto my hard drive. I now have a folder on this hard drive called "bb" which seems OK but within this "bb" folder I've got another one also called "bb" which I'm pretty sure is the 20 pac? And on the same hard drive I've got a seperate folder for "RealBand"

Just wanted to check if this set up was OK and "technically" efficient, thank you.

Also thought if I continue to make dumb posts I will soon be promoted to "enthusiast" !!!

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave,

My BIAB is installed as "d:\bb" and my Realband is installed as "d:\Realband". Within "d:\bb", I do not have another bb folder (i.e. d:\bb\bb). It's possible that this is the 20 pac. What folders or files are located inside this second-level bb folder?

Regards,
Noel

Hi Noel,

Thanks for the reply. Inside the second level are folders like 20 tunes blues guitar, 101 riffs country guitar and melodists 6 demos - pop and rock soundtrack. I think this is the 20 pac but I wasn't sure if BIAB could "see" it the way I had it installed or if PG had already installed on the hard drive they sent and the disc was for back up...the joy of computers!

Regards,

Dave

Dave, I think the folders you mention (like 101 riffs etc.) should be one level above where you have them. In other words, there is not an 'extra' /BB folder inside the /BB folder.

Matt, thanks for that advice...somehow it didn't seem right...

Trouble is (please excuse my ignorance!) if I move the "extra bb" folder up a level will I not have two /bb folders on the same drive? Or (thinking about it...so I'm probably wrong!) should I somehow "empty" the contents of the extra /bb folder into the main one?

Luckily this is keeping my dumb music questions at bay!! Thanks.

The second.

Use something like two Windows Explorer windows (I use Total Commander) and drag the folders within the second deeper /BB folder up one level. Once those folders are all in the 'original' /BB folder, you can delete the 'deeper' /BB folder.

Open that second 'bb' folder in Explorer view. **Do this with BiaB program completely shut down**

In that folder window, choose "Select All" from the Edit menu (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A.

You should then see every file in that folder highlighted.

Now choose Copy or Cut from the Edit window.

Navigate up one folder to the main bb folder and then choose Paste from the Edit menu and wait for the disk to do that job.

Afterwards, you should see all those files in the main bb folder. Delete that interior bb folder now.

Thank you all! Well the extra /bb folder is empty and I'm as sure as a sure thing that the contents have gone to the right place!

Supplementary dumb question - what effect will having done this make to the operation of BIAB, or is good house keeping?

Thanks again...if only folks at work were this helpfull!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
