I am working on a song that requires a lot of accelerandos, ritardandos, fermatas, tempo variations, etc, but I find I cannot do it in BIAB. If I have bars with tempo changes, the vocal audio recording skips and lurches. I guess what I require is a tempo map. Does that mean exporting MIDI tracks to a DAW?

Hi Kent,
I'm guessing you recorded the vocals, and then inserted the tempo changes after the fact, right? If you get your whole tune arranged the way you want it and then record vocals last, you probably won't run into this issue.
You could do this in RealBand, and set up your tempo map there, but you'll still want to get all that stuff done before recording vocals, or you're likely to run into the same issue. Since it's an actual DAW instead of an auto-accompaniment program, I find RealBand to be a better program for audio recording anyways, so it's worth checking out.

Actually, I had all the tempo changes in the various bars before I started the 'Record Audio' function. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Kent, Weird, that shouldn't be happening. If you send a copy of that tune to support@pgmusic.com, I'll try recording some vocals over it and see what happens. If you can include info about your setup, like whether you're using MME or ASIO audio drivers, and which specific driver you've selected, that'll help too. Thanks Kent PG Music

Hi Kent,
Thanks for the offer. I have already moved the song into RB, and am starting to insert my tempo map.
But I will go back to the BIAB version, and re-record my vocals, and send it to you. You can then listen to it with the associated WAV file, and see what I'm talking about.
Then you can try recording your own WAV file, with your setup, and see what happens. My M-Audio ASIO drivers have never behaved like this before. I've used Reaper, Sibelius, Komplete, Reason 4, and AcidPro.
By the way, I haven't tried to reboot yet, to see if that makes the problem go away, so let me try that 1st, and I'll let you know. Also, just installed a new printer driver (which was huge) Let me tinker a bit. Maybe I can figure this out.

A reboot to clear up resources is always a good idea and the first thing I try whenever BiaB comes up with little troubles as you describe.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
