I have reported a problem that still exists in BIAB 2011, but has occurred for me ever since RealDrums/RealTracks was introduced. Certain RealTracks and RealDrums ignore the song ending altogether, running right through the final two-bar ending. This happens most frequently with tag endings (with "Generate two-bar ending" selected, of course), and seems to happen regardless of whether or not I start the ending early. I have re-installed BIAB with no improvement.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
By the way, I have noticed that there are times, especially when restructuring a song, when notes or measures seem to get orphaned out beyond the end of the song. Could this be a clue as to what is happening? Changing the number of choruses, or some other song change that messes up the endings?

I had a few incidents such as yours. I believe the problem was a corrupted song file. Try copying the song to a new file. You can also try unfolding the song into one chorus.

You may be right, but I surely must have a lot of corrupted song files, since this seems to happen quite often.
I believe that I tried the unfolding without success.

Hello Cressjl, If you're having problems such as this, please freeze your tracks and send the song file over to support@pgmusic.com along with a description of the issue (or a link to this thread). We'll see if we have the same results on our machines, and we can troubleshoot from there. Best, Will

I often get extra notes and sounds with real tracks at the end of tunes, no matter what kind of ending used or self-created. But, not in all cases. I'm using BIAB 2011.5. It generally occurs when I add a real track to an existing style, such as a rhythm guitar, or some other instrument. Muting that part with the F5 key (the measure before the problem occurs) and hitting save usually works. It would be nice to not have to do that.

Thanks, Will. I'll try to find an example that I can send in.
J. Larry mentions the other issue that I have seen, but the main issue is run-on endings, where some tracks end as expected and others (such as Drums) do not.

One thing I have found, Joel, was that in general, the RT's that are accompaniment instruments (strum guitar, bass, piano, etc) generally end nicely; however, the soloist instruments tend to go on as the song ends.

This is a serious problem that, in my experience, seems to happen randomly. Let's hope it will be adressed by PGMusic on next update / version.

An example here: New song -> four bars, 1 chorus, tempo =75 bpm, style = _SJAZZC5.STY; all chords Cm7 All tracks except the drums ignore the song ending, at least on my system (v2011.5 - 329). Hope it helps

Yes I've always had this problem. It seems some real tracks and real drums have four bar endings and others still only have two so for example the drums will end and the bass player carries on playing for two more bars.

Have you updated your Realtracks? There are updates for those separately from the program update. I think this is one issue that was updated.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

When using Realtracks, there is a "4-bar Ending" option that is a global toggle.
That *might* have something to do with what you are experiencing.
The toggle to turn off the "Use 4 bar Endings for Realtracks" is found in the Song Settings dialog. (Rightclick on a chord and choose Song Settings or hit Ctrl-n. )
Try turning that off and then see if things don't make more sense to you when the songs end.

It is my understanding, which could be incorrect, that the 4-bar ending is a 2-bar ending that is allowed to fade two more bars.

Thanks very much for your suggestion, Mac, it worked for me, at least in the example I put here.
Unfortunately, 2 bar endings sounds much less realistic as 4 bar endings, so I wouldn't like to depend on this solution. Can someone replicate the problem? I really would like to know if it's just me (and therefore I can do something to resolve it) or it's a program's problem, and we must wait to PGMusic to fix it.
Thanks again.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
