When we're talking about sample rates for recording, it's useful to have a real-world view of what we can hear. Now, I'd be the first to admit that the following test is hardly under laboratory conditions, but with a decent pair of headphones it can give you a rough guide as to the state of your hearing. Hey, if you've tried the test dare to post your score!
I can hear from 20hz up to 14k, but I must admit that the volume at 12k is greatly reduced and 14k is very faint. Then again, I'm in the old-man section.
It's possible that the limitations of YT might stop you getting much past 18/19k, but that would be a score I'd envy anyway!

I didn't take the test, because I knew what to expect. 40 years in industrial plants took away a lot of my high frequency hearing.

I would not go by a Youtube recording, too many variables inherent to make any sort of test worth anything.

Working for a company that specializes in products for the hearing impaired, reporting to a director who is a Doctor of Audiology, etc., and knowing that media files online are nearly always lossy compressed video and audio, this is not even close to a reliable hearing test. Go to a local audiologist and have a proper audiometry performed. It's worth it.

Enough! I'm not looking for any sort of conflict here. The whole thing wasn't supposed to be taken that seriously. Scary movies can be fun. Most of the people we teach enjoyed trying it, but no one felt the need to visit the medical center. If you took it the wrong way, please accept my apologies.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
