Hi all.
I can't seem to get any sound whatsoever from the metronome during count-in (Realband 2013). After the count in it works fine. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks
Terry

The metronome count-in is using the default synth. There is no way (thatI know of) to change this. If the synth you have selected to use is down from the top of Drivers list this will happen. RB/PT have worked like this for years. Try enabling the default synth and assigning other MIDI tracks to the other synth(s)

If this is not the case post back some specifics.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by down from the top of the drivers list. I have a default synth enabled (either Coyote WT or ForteDXI take your pick) and the metronome works fine after the count-in with either of those. The WT is at the top of the default dxi/vsti synth list. I don't know if that is what you mean.
The silent count-in in the metronome preferences dialog box seems to make no difference if it is on or off.

The default synths you are using are VSTi/DXi synths. This is likely why Metronome isn't heard.

Two things to try

1. Yes, enable the WT synth at the top of the list, see if the metronome plays (and doesn't interfere with the rest of the tracks).

2. If this is not acceptable, try leaving it enabled, and turning off 'Reroute MIDI to default DXi/VSTi snth' (a checkbox).

Try again; if you hear metronome and not MIDI tracks follow below-

Then go to one of the MIDI tracks and assign it to the synth of choice using Port/Synth assignments under right-click menu.
Then right-click (again)on any MIDI track and select 'Set all MIDI tracks to Forte DXi plugin' (or whichever MIDI synth you chose previously).

Thanks again.
I've tried what you suggested, but still can't get any count-in beats sounding. I think at this point in time I will just use the first bar or two to act as my count-in when recording. That seems to be the simpliest solution for me.
Cheers

In all the projects I open in Real Band, the majority of them have drum tracks and the drum tracks always have 2 measures of count in.... if for some reason I'm working in a style without drums, I simply insert a drum track and waaa laaa I have my count in.

I don't think I have used any of the metronomes in any of my musical software in years.

I usually start a project with a click track.
I made a simple MIDI track of sidestick on the beat for a measure, copied it a hundred measures long .. then I can adjust tempo and render it to an audio track if desired.

I call it click.mid

I greatly prefer creating an Audio Click Track over MIDI metronome also.

For one thing, no probs with MIDI latency and softsynths wreaking sudden havoc with the all-important timing.

For another, it makes lining up other Audio Tracks a breeze.

Thanks so very much! A click track makes so much sense. That's what I'll do in future projects.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
