I'm unable to help with this test, but I am sure that there will be all sorts of people lining up to help on this, as well as rejoicing in the halls of Macdom at this announcement, Peter.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Yes it is good news for Mac users and I am sure that sufficient numbers will come forward on this important beta test
I am also unable to assist with this beta test as I am currently without a Mac machine but I look forward to hearing the results of this test as I would like to have a Mac in the future and avoid all those stupid PC problems

This is really great news !
I finally reg'ed here after lurking for a long, long time to put in my application as a beta tester.

The beta test application form did ask how much time you spent in the program, and I realized after I filled it out, that I didn't spend that much time in BIAB itself.

Version 12's main functionality on the Mac is (at least to me) basically as a MIDI generator. I compose patterns and basic changes in BIAB, export the MIDI and flesh out the compositions in Cubase or Logic Express, so most of my time is spent in those programs.

I can't wait to see some of the advanced audio/MIDI editing features from the Windows side here on the Mac as well. Then the majority of time can be spent in just one application. As it is now exporting, importing to another application and reassigning instruments and sounds is a real time killer.

Drat, I should have lied about how much time I spent working in BIAB itself.
Oh well, live and learn.

Can't wait to hear more news on this !!

Don't make that assumption, Jay.

Typical pool of beta testers would have to include some that haven't a lot of time with BIAB as well as old hands like myself.

Yeah, I applied also, with the Macbook and the iMac. Beta testing can get that way...

Well, in my stable/attic/museum I have a coal-fired Mac Classic II, a blueberry iMac, a beige G3, three assorted G4 towers and an Intel Mac Pro tower. At least I have one machine that will run the new Intel-only BIAB!

Can't wait...

I went through that phase. Between marriages lived with another guy and we took a bottle most nights.

Now, I favour a good Islay single malt. Won't splurge on the best.

Great Great Great Great Grandfather Spence was the distiller at the closed Lossit Distilary (Ballygrant after he left), married the exice man's daughter a Storrie. That's Mom's side.

The place was owned by a MacNeil, related oddly enough to my current wife of 25 years who's family was also from Islay and Colonsay, only found that out about 8 years ago. Spence is really MacDonald anyways.

Now I like Bruichladdich, but that's pricey. Talisker if yer feeling tough, lots of iodine and peat.

There hasn't been a peep out of anyone about this, which is good because the beta testers are following the rules. I just hope for the Mac community that things are going well. Good luck to all testers.

Agreed ! I keep checking for any news, but I must say I'm surprised with the limited number of replies in this thread. I only hope they've found enough people to start testing. Then again with almost 1200 views there may be a lot of Mac folks just lurking out there. Frankly, I expected a little more response here from anxious Mac folks.

Not to worry Jay, with the multitude of threads in the last few years asking about a new Mac version I'm sure they have plenty of testers. The announcement is just that, an announcement with instructions to click the link and register to be a tester. There's no reason for a tester to post here unless they just feel like it. There really isn't much to talk about, people who've been waiting for this now know it's close and they're just waiting for the results. Since this is basically a brand new program, it could take a while. Real Band took a lot longer than a basic Biab upgrade beta too.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
