Question about Pan: Do the separate tracks already reflect the panning?

When generating to Dxi, the BIAB pan settings, are supposedly reflect in the MIXDOWN song.

However, there is an option to generate ONE FILE per TRACK. For example the PIANO track with a setting of pan=20 in BIAB, then generated in ONE FILE per track does the PIANO track already reflect the PAN or does the Piano Track comes out center PAN?

Why do I need to know?

Because I want to open the Separate Files in a software like Cool Edit. I will open each file containing the separate tracks.

And since Cool Edit has panning for each track, I want to know if I can use the BIAB files separate, without any more panning adjustment in Cool Edit (assuming I want the same panning in BIAB).

I dont want the tracks to be PANNEd in BIAB and then PANNED again in Cool Edit bec my total panning adjustments will go haywire.

When I export separte tracks from BIAB and open them up in any of a small number of sequencing softwares I use here, the tracks are always panned at 12 o'clock dead center. I must set the Pans again inside the software.

Whatever Pans you have set in BIAB don't export with the files.

This is a good thing IMO.

Thanks Mac,
I noticed though, for example, that the Guitar Tracks come out in Left and Right channels but one Channel has louder amplitude (either left or right) than the other. This points out to that the Panning is actually carried over.

Note that this is the result when the entire song is generated, TOGETHER with the separate tracks.

You might be referring to a case where ONLY one track is being generated from the BIAB topdown MENU.

These two instances might be different in result (i.e. with complete song generation, the individual tracks are PANNED, while in Generate Track only, the track is Pan=center)

Before I render BIAB songs to WAV files (under AUDIO), I always set the panning to MONO (located under the GM menu). I have found that sometimes I get stereo panning on some tracks. Setting the panning to mono eliminates any stereo panning that might be in the BIAB style. I can then load unpanned tracks into my DAW and pan to suit.

I have an idea that the realtracks (especially realdrums) are recorded in stereo.
So you're likely to lose the "live" sound if you set the panning to mono. Rather just set the panning to zero.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
