Just a couple of youtube vids of my brother, Marshall, at the Aizen saxophone booth at NAMM this year playing their instruments and using some BiaB files I threw together, played back as mp3's on the iPod thru the Logitech speakers.

Rhythm Changes

Fixed camera on a stand, crowd noise is part of NAMM, it is what it is along those lines.

When's the last time you heard Scrapple from the Apple bein' played at a NAMM show?

This was the first time he'd played along to my backing tracvk, which I emailed to him while he was at the show. So he wasn't sure when and where all the TradeFours with Terry were gonna happen. Okay, so I put too many in there...

That was fun!

It strikes me, from the Scrapple video, he prefers alto?

Those Aizen saxes and mouthpieces sound great! I hadn't heard of them before. Need to look them up.

He is actually a great clarinetist. Foundation in classical clarinet, just like my foundation was in classical trumpet. Then we heard the Bird...

I've told him to push the clarinet out front more.

So did Lionel Hampton.

Marshall is right now playing Alto with the Count Basie Orchestra, though.

But you oughtta hear him blow Bird stuff outta that darn licorice stick sometime.

Thanks, Matt.

Here's Marshall followin' in big brothers NAMM footsteps, a long time ago at a NAMM show I almost got myself fired for leaving the booth I was hired to play at and goin' out there head choppin'. All those jam sessions, man. What's a cat to do? Marshall heard Cherokee and went a-lookin', sax strapped on. Great drummer here IMO, youngster be channelin' old Klookmop at the thing.

That was fun, too!

Yeah, kid on drums was makin' it. Bass wasn't bad at that tempo, either, and the song was longer than they planned on... Ever see Bill Cosby talk about playing Cherokee? Fabulous.

All this at the Legere booth? I really dislike those plastic reeds. Can't argue with that sax player's success, though. Good fun all around.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes indeedy, Bill Cosby on his short-lived drumming career is a classic!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zn-P0ZH3_M

With Jack Benny on the side, no less.

Actually, The Cos really does know the rudiments and the kit, I once got to see him sit in with the bigband at Playboy Jazzfest, he may not be a pro-grade drummer, but he can hold court when he isn't mugging for the laughs.

Here's Bill in Philly workin' a bit with a Drumline of kids, wish it were longer because at one point he got kinda serious with the kids, you know, show 'em what's up...

I liked the music. Never was into clarinets, but it runs in the family. Never been to NAMM. Sounds like fun except for the walking. Man I hated trade shows in the day.

Mac, I missed him by 1/2 hour. I left my card with the folks at the booth. Haven't heard whether Marshall got my card or not. I had a 1:00 PM flight out of John Wayne and it was 10:00 AM when I stopped by at the booth. You know LA traffic. I couldn't wait.

Damn Mac!! The be bop tradition is alive and well in your family! Awesome. Sad about all the noise in the background. Would love to see a video of both of playing. Really enjoyed this Mac, thanks!

Mac your baby brother is awesome. Thanks for the links.

BTW when will we get to see a video of Mac in action? It would be fun to watch you perform before a dance crowd. I've done that. Then lost the darned tape. Ah well. Now I have a video cam for when (if) I get out and start playing again.

Hey Danny? How you? Got a video of you?

Mac,
The video I want to see was probably taken at your last family reunion....

(lotta talent there!)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
