After some trial and error, and reading a few posts and Help, it seems that it is the case that the feature "Chordsheet and Notation - Start a New Line" in the Bar Settings dialog (F5) works as expected (force a new line at the Current Bar) - UNLESS there is a Repeats or Endings (and perhaps other) setting.
Is that the case, or can I force a new line in this manner when a repeat or ending exist? (I found nothing in Help that makes this distinction.)
In case it helps, part markers don't always have to force a new line. In Options, Preferences, Display, you can uncheck the checkbox that says "New line for every section (part marker).

Well, manually adding a Part Marker always forces a new line, don't know if that's appropriate for what you desire to see, though. ... --Mac
Mac - For me, that's not the case. Here's my test.
1. Start a new song. Click on part marker of any measure and a new line is created - great.
2. Now create any repeat - like select bars 4-8, right click, click repeats ..., tick repeats and generate and OK. Now you have a repeat in the song. Now click on part maker of any measure, and I don't get a new line. Does anyone? My question is - is that the way it is? Or - Is there a way to have repeats in a song AND new lines and any measure?

Hi Kelso
Matt already answered part of the question that might be related to your request (see post #236012 - above)
On my system I can get Part Marker to start a new line, but it is a bit quirky. It doesn't seem to allow every part marker inserted to start a new line. But largely, it does work.
Sometimes adding a Part Marker puts the chord back on the previous line!
Hope this helps somewhat.

Hi VideoTrack. I do have that checks as you show. If I uncheck it, of course, I can't do what I described in my "1". When it is checked, and I have a repeat (and let me be clear - there are repeats from the "Edit Repeats and Endings" dialog, NOT repeats from # choruses), I can not get a new line by clicking any part marker.
I can confirm the same behavior you describe. If there are internal repeats, then I cannot get the Part Marker to create a new line under any circumstances.
Perhaps you should report to PGM Support? Regards Trevor

Yes, that is intended behavior. The feature for a new line with part markers is disabled if there are also repeats and endings In the song. With repeats and endings , a main purpose is to get the sheet looking a s concise as possible, so the extra lines weren't desirable.
In the "Views" toolbar click on the "Fakesheet" icon and the repeat options are there. It is also located in the menu bar under "Edit->Repeats/codas/1st-2nd endings..."
Thanks, Ed, but I must be blind or something. I don't see either of those things in the 2014 version that I just installed. I see them in previous versions in the Fakebook and Repeats tutorial video on the BIAB website, but I have clicked and right-clicked every button and menu that I've got on 2014 and I'm not finding anything like a 2nd/3rd ending. I looked in Preferences to see if I had to enable something first, but I didn't find anything there either.
Look again at the menu bar at the top. You should see File, Edit, Styles and more. Click Edit and then in the context menu click "Repeats/codas/1st-2nd endings..." When the dialog comes up click the 1st/2nd endings button on the left and then on the right there is a drop down listbox that will have options for selecting 3rd and 4th endings.
I don't see it, Ed. I'm using BIAB 2014 Build 80. When I access the drop down menu for "Edit" at the top, I get the following choices:
Can't undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Copy From ... To ..., Copy Rests, Copy/Move Tracks . . ., Erase From ... To ..., Intro Bars Auto-Generate, Clear Lead Sheet, Insert measure(s), Delete measure(s), Shrink (reduce duration of chords by 1/2), Expand (increase duration of chords by 2), Unfold (Convert to 1 big chorus), Set Time Sig of Scrap ..., Transpose, Blank Lyrics, Side Tracks, Chord Settings, Bar Settings, Song Memo, Copy Lyrics to Clipboard ...., Move Lyrics up/down Row(s) ..., Edit Chord 'Shortcut txt' ..., Refresh Chord Shortcuts, Set Audio Base Tempo (for songs with Audio Performance Tracks), Start Dictation.
That's it. Nothing about repeats or 2nd endings. The dialog you're mentioning never comes up.
I am not sure if you have your song in "linear" form, but that is the best place to start.
Right click on any bar brings up the repeats menu. From there you layout the song.
Remember repeats and endins are oly a print function, and they do not affect how the song plays.
When you are ready, or have at least got some pieces in place, save the song and go to the fake sheet screen - the little green button with the eighth notes.
You should start to see you song coming together. Don't worry yet about new lines, as we get to this later. Just get the endings in the proper place. I like to use 4 bar endings, starting on a new line.
If you have to mske changes, and you will, right click on any bar and click the edit list button. This brings up the existing list of repeats. You can have several entries here. For instance, a repeat starting on bar 5 with the first ending startin on 21 for 4 bars, and a ds al coda returng to bar 5 and jumpng out at bar 16.
Get all of this right first.
To get the print to start on a new line you need to go to the OPT button in fake sheet. Towards the lower left is a box that allows you to define how many bars you want on each line. By setting this correctly the song prints the way you want. Just put the number of bars per line follwed by a comma. (Eg 4,6,6,4,4,3,4)
If you need to edit this, you have to reenter it all again.
With patience and practice you can get a reasonable print. By the way, put your part markers where ever you want, the do not affevt the fake sheet.
BIAB for Windows Version 2019 (643) Windows 10 (1909)
I think you defined the problem, Matt. I don't think you can do repeats or 2nd endings in the Mac version, which seems really strange. I was assuming that you could because on the BIAB website, under "Band-in-a-Box Macintosh" -> PG Music Video Tutorials Band-in-a-Box for Macintosh, there is a video in the Intermediate section entitled "BIAB: Repeats & Fake Sheet Mode", but it apparently doesn't apply to the Mac version even though it's in the Mac section, which is very misleading and somewhat annoying, considering how much time I've spent trying to figure this out. I looked at my old 2012 Mac version, and it doesn't have any of these commands either.
Maybe. I don't know the Mac version; it may well do what you want so don't give up without finding someone who is solid on the Mac version. Or, call PG Music Support.
Peter Gannon saw this thread earlier. He programs BIAB on a Mac. Perhaps he will revisit.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
