Hi,
The BIAB Help discusses 3 different Latency settings: MIDI latency, Audio latency and MIDI/Audio Offset. It seems all of the descriptions talk about playback only. Could someone explain to me how the settings will affect recording? To be specific, I have a Roland UA-25EX USB audio interface that I use for recording. I don't know what procedure to take to find out the optimal latency settings in BIAB. It will help tremendously if someone can provide a step-by-step process as I'm a complete newbie in VST/recording.
Thanks.

If the Playback settings in BIAB are working correctly, the Record should take care of itself in most cases.
You may not need to manually set anything at all here.
So try it out and see what you get.

I believe the one you will set is the one for audi 1. choose audio from the top menu 2. go down to audio driver settings. 3. Hit the button that says get from soundcard, if the latency is still to high. Turn down the setting as low as you can until you start to have glitches or stuttering and then slowly go up until the glitches and stuttering stop. It will take some work but you will eventually get the right latency. I hope this helps! Listen To My MusicRead My BlogMy Web PageReverbnation

Hi Mac,
Would you mind to explain to me technical how the Playback settings will be used in Recording?
You said "Record should take care of itself in most cases". In what scenarios won't it and what should I do in those cases?

"most cases" -- there may be some audio device drivers that will need the adjustments to be made, but in the majority of cases you shouldn't have to worry about it.
Are you having trouble?
If so, please be more specific, don't assume it is a latency problem, just describe the actual trouble here if any.

Thanks Mac.
At one stage I suddenly got really bad latency. I'm not sure if that was because I fiddled with the MME/ASIO settings. So I went to read up about the settings. I think i've now eliminated the latency.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
