Follow The Money

A song that always seems topical wherever (and whenever) you live.

Lyrics - Leon
Vocals & Harmony - Janice
I played some guitar solos.
Thanks to Bud for recording Janice and his mix input.

Follow The Money

(She said) follow the money
See where it leads
Follow the money
See where it leads
It won’t take you to
A happy place
Much more likely to
Lead you to disgrace
Follow the money
Follow the smell
Promise you Heaven
But you wind up in Hell
Promise you roses
But you end up with weeds
Follow the money
See where it leads
Follow
Follow
The money

Follow the money
You can see where it lives
See what it takes away
And see what it gives
Step around the bodies
It helps to close your eyes
It’s only natural
Everybody dies
Follow the money
It’s easy to trace
Goes where it’s cherished
Keeps the others in their place
Money has no conscience
Money has no soul
Likes to pretend that it is
Under your control
Follow
Follow
The money

Follow the money
See where it goes
Follow the money
Follow your nose
Money likes the backrooms
It operates at night
Money doesn’t like to be
Exposed to the light
Follow the money
Follow the trail
It’ll wash away your sins
It’ll go your bail
Money buys the weapons
Money does the deals
Money never stops to think
Money doesn’t feel
Follow
Follow
The money

Man, what an intro! Too cool for words.

Great vocals as per usual, that tone!

Nice guitar work, Peter, those volume swells are the cats meow. Modulation at the end was fun too.

Good one guys and gal, enjoyed the listen!

Peter / Leon / Janice,

Great song! I love the arrangement on this. Instrumentation and mix is really outstanding - some great guitar work.

As always, the vocal by Janice is flawless and on point. Killer intro...

Really nice job here! Janice's vocals here are on point, and I love the groove on this one. It reminds me of certain tunes by Feist, if you are familiar with her (not sure how popular she is outside of Canada). Really catchy, and easy on the ears.

Great work, and thanks for sharing smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Peter,Leon,J&B,
Yes, love that intro- Janice sounds like she enjoyed this ( interesting to hear how well done the doubled vocal is too).
Leon contributes some of the smartest lyrics on this forum and this is another excellent write.
Guitar playing is also right up there.
Take it to the bank!

jeez what a song ,geez what a singer ,But who mixed it .

There is a piano doing its stuff for the singer to get a flavoring from, yet to us listeners its too low.

Guitar stunning though I felt the bass and drums were low as well.

Don't attack guys I'm critiquing this on your level of production ,performance and past history.

Caassshhh! LOL! Love it. Janice this is one of my fav playful vocals of yours and love the harmony. Peter and Leon the lyrics and melody are well written, the arrangement kept my toes tapping and the guitar is spot on. Infectuous fun track.
