This forum is a great place to visit for help with BiaB questions. I've used it myself many times with great results. However, it does have a few drawbacks. It's not terribly easy to search and because of that there's many questions that get asked over and over again. It seemed to me that a repository of BiaB solutions would be of great benefit to all BiaB users. To that end I have created a BiaB Wiki. It's very much a work in progress at this point. I'm currently adding all the tips and tricks I've authored over the years. I will continue to do so as time allows. I would like to extend an invitation to any of you who'd like to contribute to create an account and add your own wisdom to the site. I'm sure that we can make it a really useful wiki in a short time. As indicated in the welcome page, the site is for any kinds of tips and tricks you use to get the most out of BiaB. It isn't restricted to just the mechanics of using BiaB. Rather, I'd like to include musical tips as well. Things like how you compose using BiaB and how you use BiaB to improve your playing. Ultimately we can use links to the wiki to answer those perennial questions that always come up. Thanks to you all in advance. I hope to see you on the site.

What a great idea! I wonder why none of the chromedomes here thought of it first (self included). Best of all, it will be a permanent repository of information. I'll be curious to see how it grows.
I'll take a look at what you have so far when I have more time. I'll bookmark it on my DAW, too.

I hope you like what's there so far. I also hope you can join and contribute. The real power of any wiki is the compilation of knowledge from all the users.

Looks wonderful, I love the content aready. One suggestion, please keep it "advanced stuff only" for those who want to get into the working of creating with BIAB. The forum here can still help newbee get up and running. Thanks for kicking this off, a great contribution.

I don't agree with that.
Might be good to organize the wiki such that there are two sections, novice and superuser or something like that, but it should be open to and usable by all levels of users in my opinion.

+1 to Mac. There absolutely should be a Quick Start section, with very basic functions and a couple of song examples. And I expect the bulk of the articles will be covering basic functions. We might want to label various tutorials as Novice, Journeyman, Expert, and Master level.

Sorry Dan, I have to agree that there should be a section for individuals just starting out. I would say that those individuals are the one who would use it most.
Peter, I'll try to contribute something to it.

No problem, just one man’s suggestion. Actually, I was so excited to see the content up there. What Paul has put up so far, dealing with importing MIDI and creating hybrid styles and new styles, is advanced for me. Given all my years with BIAB I have never really understood how the heck a BIAB song is constructed from scratch. I always felt that hunting through hundreds of styles for a particular sound (style) was not really the answer. But I never have really understood how to roll-my-own. Up to this point I have chalked it off to "midi programming" and I am content working with the 1000’s of BIAB tunes out there. For now I can maneuver around in BIAB and RB quite well, thank you. But, I plan in my retirement years to revisit the whole area. So I will keep a keen eye on the WiKi site.

That looks really good, Paul! What a great idea, I'm sure most of us regulars have had some kind of thought about doing something like this but it took you to actually do it. Well done. One suggestion is to set up a peer review similar to Wikipedia so if something is shown to be not quite right or maybe downright incorrect, it can be rewritten. Another suggestion is to go through the tips & tricks section of the forum, pick out the best ones and email the author asking if you can copy their post to the Wiki or maybe a better way is to ask them if they want to add it themselves. I'm just full of thoughts now, how about searching through the forum for Andrew's posts? He usually only posts with a direct answer to someone's problem so some of those answers could prompt a section for the Wiki as well.

Where's Mary when we need her. Maybe just for now 'merry' should suffice. Way to go Peter/Paul and Merry!

Hi jazzmandan. Glad you like the site. I'm not sure it would be possible or desirable to limit the content to advanced topics. Since any user can contribute, the content will always reflect the level of the average user.
What I propose instead is that topics be catagorised as basic or advanced. This way the user can easily decide for themselves what to read.

I agree Tom. I've already started to arrange the site index into basic and advanced. As soon as I learn how to use the catagory feature I'll start to catagorise topics as to the level of expertise.
It seems you have some good ideas. I hope you can join the site and contribute.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
