Here is a Halloween song that I wrote. I like the song concept and lyrics but I am not happy with the vocal recording at all. I have made several good faith attempts at the vocals but this is the best I can do, at least for now. I probably need an entirely new recording set up (PC, etc.). Plus, I hate singing if anyone can hear me. In the past, I would always do my vocal tracks when nobody else was home. But, since COVID-19, I never have the house to myself any more, so I have to squeeze my vocal recordings in whenever and however I can. This one is entirely Band-in-a-Box - I didn't play anything: RB_BARB RB BARB - MED RB Shuffle 120 BPM Key G 34 Finger Elec Bass 1 Acoustic Piano 1 Standard Drum Kit 28 Clean Elec Guitar 62 Brass Section 89 Bell Pad Here is: Creepy Crib Creepy Crib
Come on over to my creepy crib It's in the graveyard where I live We'll have a party through the night Stay forever if you'd like
We'll sing our favorite funeral songs The dearly departed will sing along We'll spike the punch with formaldehyde We'll take the hearse out for a ride
Oh, oh, you'll live to regret it Oh, oh, you'll have bad dreams Oh, oh, you'll not forget it. Oh, oh, every night's Halloween
The undertaker will be here too He's dug a grave just for you The skeletons will shake their bones The living dead will howl and moan
Oh, oh, you'll live to regret it Oh, oh, you'll surely scream Oh, oh, you'll not forget it. Oh, oh, every night's Halloween
Come on over, have some fun But you may want to try and run Come on over, bring friend But you may never leave again
Come on over to my creepy crib It's in the graveyard where I live We'll have a party through the night Stay forever if you'd like
Come on over to my creepy crib Come on over to my creepy crib

Amusing ditty - clever lyric and a genre appropriate vocal.
Fun.

Howdy ...
I'll take a little extra formaldehyde in my punch, please! Fits in perfectly with the season. iof you have any, perhaps a few Halloween scary stuff in the background occasionally ... witch's laugh, howling etc.
I'm not much of a singer but I what I can with the voice I was given. I have a vocal range of about half an octave! I always say it serves to give a real singer a good idea of what I'm looking for when all is said and done. I can molest the airways with the best of them! Just dio what you can ... I'll be here for a listen!
Nice work. Take care and be safe ...
Alan

jpt3,
A good Halloween write! Don't hear many of those...
"We'll sing our favorite funeral songs The dearly departed will sing along We'll spike the punch with formaldehyde We'll take the hearse out for a ride"
...clever stuff.

Rumors of your recent demise appear to be over exaggerated.

jptjptjpt, Spooky fun and good timing. Solid musical bed and dark humor lyrics. I assume this is all MIDI? I think vocals are a bit too up front. I believe angelic / soft female vocals or kid singing it would sound interesting. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Well done. Reminds me of some of the spooky a.m. radio Halloween songs back (way back) in the day.
Fun!

jpt3,
Great write . . . really clever lines and rhymes. Has a Monster Mash feel to me, which makes it perfect for Halloween. The vocal works well enough for me, and actually a match for this song (but yeah, maybe a bit too far out in front in spots as Misha suggests). Fun tune!
My spooky regards,
Deej

Thank you everyone for listens and comments. I appreciate it. I keep thinking I'll rerecord the vocals but it hasn't happened yet.

I think the vocal and lyrics are the best of the song...the musical bed, whilst a good progression and tempo, sounds dry, unemotional and very MIDI. Your voice sounds weary, worn and a warning. The changes in character are matched by tone changes and I think that was pretty cool.

Hello jptjptjpt, I really liked this nod to Halloween. The play on the voice is surprising but well done. The atmosphere is joyful and the children should be loved. Well done.
Kindly regard

Really well written, especially the early verses, and you`re vocal is right in character. I could wish for the arrangement to be a little spookier, but its a cool song and performance.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
