Hello, forum friends After a little blank, I would like to post my songs again. This song is written for the latest recording session of our music circle in this summer. I would like to introduce you two versions, which are the live band version and the RealTrack version. The RealTrack version was made for the vocalist to practice this song. I usually prepare the karaoke version of the song made with BIAB in advance for vocalist. Any comments encouraged. Always welcome. Best regards. Shigeki Adachi Title: 君が去る時 (Translation: When you leave me) Vocal: Tsuyoshi Tamada, my music friend Link of Live Band Version by Yamaha Teachers: https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/when-you-leave-me-live-band-version-2021Following additional VST instruments played with EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Ist Violins 2nd Violins Violas Cellos French Horns Scored by me. You leave me abandoned Without saving your heart for me You're about to forget even that you have loved me You will live with your new heart You will find pleasure in the different lips You are now flying into the light To start new days I will stay here with your memories Forever as it is And I will love only you forever With my lost heart

interesting to compare..the "live" cut seems a little smoother, gentler and flowing while the "RealTrack" version is crisp, linear and a little detached...it may be the lovely strings on the "live" that give me that impression. Cool vocal, lovely story.. Both are really well done.

Hi Shigeki,
Thanks for posting this lovely song.
Superb vocals and great instrumentation.
I thought the Studio version was a better mix in that the vocals were better integrated with the backing in terms of level.
Look forward to hearing more of your songs.
Best Regards Nigel

Oh, yes, Shigeki Adachi, I miss your posts. That is how I used BiaB for years --as an example for others to practice before recording. Sadly most of those folks are dead now so...
Love the melody and wonderful choice of vocalist. And, as you always do, there is such a gifted arrangement and mix. At times I felt the strings were competing with the vocal but they are so good it doesn't matter. Thanks so much for the translation. I purposely didn't read the lyrics until after listening to the song. I knew I'd be able to get the story from the feel of the music and passion of the vocalist. You are so good at that.

lovely changes and build ups. count me highly impressed. talented vocallist. maybe i like vocal doubling too much... but i think this would sound superb with subtle vocal doubling in places. not everywhere just in places for variety. you are very very talented. well well done. best om

A quality production, and clearly a big effort went into the production.
I liked the sparseness of the instrumentation backing in places, this surprisingly gave depth to the performance, and the drumming fitted absolutely perfectly.
Nice, no question.

Shigeki Adachi,
Always nice to have you return to the Showcase.
A beautiful song (as always). Very nice melody. Tsuyoshi Tamada did a great job on the vocals. Lovely arrangement and a good mix on both the live version and the RealTracks version. Overall, I preferred the RealTracks version.
I enjoyed listening.

The BIAB band is perfect to represent the endless melancholy ("I will love only you forever With my lost heart"). Beautiful and professional melody and chording. The singer is excellent, nice vibrato and emotions are strongly expressed.

Simply too hard to choose, Shigeki. They are both lush and lovely. Perhaps the strings give the live version a bit of an edge.
The vocalist has a great voice ... fine crooner.
Well composed (great melody), performed and mixed.
We enjoyed it!

Beautiful song, well sung. Your arrangement was extraordinary, as usual. For some strange reason I liked the RT version a little better, but it is a close call.
It's always a treat to see your name appear here and when it does I go straight to the song you've posted. You're a real talent!

Shigeki, Every time I see you name in the showcase I know that I'm in for a treat. This time I had double the pleasure.
Your vocalist is outstanding. Your composing knowledge is second to none and it really shines in these songs.
Both song were mixed to perfection, but I really liked the live band version the best. It sounded warmer to me, especially in the French Horns.
Loved it!

That's a very rich arrangement. Love the vocal, particularly on the real track version.
Strangely, I prefer the RT version over the live.
Well Done!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks
MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:
There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:
1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
