WHAT'S AN EXTRA MILE?

when you need an extra blanket at night to keep you warm
i get up and find one.. then i wrap you in my arms
i try to make sure... you have all that you could need
there's no order too tall, no wish too small
you can always count on me ('cause...)

   what's an extra mile
if it shows what's in my heart
   ask for the moon
i'll bring it wrapped up in the stars
there's no mountain too high or road too rough
no river too deep or wild
   when it comes to love
   what's an extra mile

you bring me coffee every morning, sometimes breakfast in bed
i think you're trying to spoil me, but you call it love instead
you don't miss a chance to prove your heart is true
your love amazes me, it's right there to see
in all the little things you do (you say...)

   what's an extra mile
if it shows what's in my heart
   ask for the moon
i'll bring it wrapped up in the stars
there's no mountain too high or road too rough
no river too deep or wild
   when it comes to love
   what's an extra mile

   when it comes to love
   what's an extra mile

The simple guitar announces this song is going to be all about the lyric.

Nice build as the instruments some in.

Great chorus. Love how the chorus starts and ends on the hook - classic, and it works so well here.

Love the change in POV in the second verse. I didn't expect it, and again: it works really well.

My only complaint is that I would have liked another round of the chorus.

Or even better, make the second time through the chorus a duet. That would be so pretty! And entirely unnecessary, but I think it would work nicely here. A little bit of echo, like:

      Male: What's an extra mile...
Female, echoing: What's an extra mile?
Together: If it shows what's in our hearts

But you know me, I throw gratuitous harmony on everything. wink

I'm a sucker for simple love songs - I like this one a lot! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

"Leave 'em wanting more."
This song does that.
Another verse and chorus, augmented by strings n things
is the expectation and imagination kicked on by what exists.
No need to do it as it was done in my head.

You voice soars in the choruses.
VERY well done Floyd.

Lovely song. Great production. Your voice does soar at all the right places. You know how to write a catchy hook line, that's for sure. Good one. My hat's off to the band too.

floyd,

The simple acoustic guitar sound supports your wonderful vocals very well.
The piano and pedal steel that participate from the middle are modest but very effective.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Firstly I'm greeted with a clean crisp guitar introduction.

The vocal delivery and backings are, as usual, exceptional.

Maybe I'm a softy for a beautiful love song, and this one fits that category absolutely perfectly.

Another winner, Mr Jane. Thanks!

What an amazingly consistent tunesmith you are, Floyd. And you always have the chops, the voice and band to make each song shine to the highest level. As always those lyrics are SOOOOO good. Thank you!!

I enjoyed that. Nicely written and played. That would be a great song for a movie underscore

Thanks, David! (hey! where did those spaces come from? smile )
I understand the notion that a duet lives in there somewhere. But, as written, it would be a bit lopsided. Another go at the chorus? - then the song gets a bit long (and we all get so easily bored these days smile )

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
