I just upgraded to 2010.5 and it seems pretty stable. My only problem with RB is that when I open a BIAB song that has a MIDI based drum track, it "converts" it to a RealDrums. I say "converts" because it's not even close to the original MIDI drums. I tried unchecking that option under preferences but the program insists on converting the drums. I can see them initially on the tracks, then the render window takes over and the MIDI drum track is erased.
Any ideas?

Check the RealDrums Settings button, found by punching the icon that is a Drum with the .wav graphic on it.
There at top you should find the checkbox that substitutes realdrums, uncheck it.

I could not find that icon in RB so I assume you meant BIAB. Unfortunately that doesn't work. I unchecked all the RealDrums options in BIAB - same thing.

Oops! You're right, I gave ya BiaB directions.
Let me check out the new RB first and get back to ya on this...
In RB, Prefs -> Song Generation and uncheck "Allow Realdrums" may do the trick.

This was brought up at one time. Real band will ALWAYS generate a Real Drum track. If you want the Midi drum track you have to right click on an empty track choose generate midi part/drums. Remember Mac. To us it was a bug but Jeff said that's they way it's to be. Unchecking that doesn't change it.

Hey - that worked! Doesn't make sense why or how, but it worked. I should mention that even when I pick Drums as the track type, it displays an acoustic piano. Odd, but I can live with it.
Thanks guys for digging that one out!

That is because the MIDI Percussion track uses the same numbers as the Melodic tracks. The "Standard Drumkit" is MIDI Patch 001, same as the Grand Piano. If you are seeing the Grand Piano icon it is because somehow you haven't "told" RB that this is a Percussion bank track. The drunkits are located every 8 numbers down the list of 001 to 128.
Good call, Silvertones!

If you set the track to channel 10 it'll at least say "Drums"

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
