Hello

I would love to have those Django accompaniments to practice this style with a real gypsy guitar sound

Thanks

This would be a wonderful addition. As I was walking along the river in Paris last summer, about every 50 yards or so was another 2 to 4 guitarists trading solos while the other(s) played rhythm. It was an uplifting. I have since been using a midi style to get my chops up, but a Django real style would probably add a couple of hours to my practice sessions! I dream of going back and joining in.

And yes, flourishes with violin or even accordian would put it over the top.

Yes another +1 but please investigate the plethora of styles that are Gypsy Jazz born of Django such as Angelo Debarre, Stochlo Rosenberg, Moreno, Tchavolo Schmit, et al, all subtly different as were most of Django's tracks, as opposed to the accepted doo whacka that is prevelant, before deciding exactly what to provide.

We now do have Django styles in BB 2009 (Ultrapack), but I`m a little disapointed (only a little )
They don`t sound good played fast. First of all they`re only strechable up to around 200 maybe 220. We all know that the gipsy style is often very fast. Secondly, when you speed them up to 220 they sound unrealistic. The Bass strings of the guitar aren`t short enough and muted enough for that fast playing.
I had the pleasure to play with some real good gipsys (Sinti) here in Austria and they told me the correct playing. And its a huge difference in the fast playing. As said, they mute the bass string (but also at slower tempos the strings are generally more muted than on the Real tracks).
Well, I`m not a good gipsy player, but the one that plays the Real Tracks should be. (I think its Oliver Gannon, I think he is a good guitarist, but maybe a real gipsy guitarist could have done a more sophistcated work here)

Just my opinion.
The rest of the Jazz guitar RTs are really good.

Hi Sandra:

I'm new to PG Music and looking for a program that will play Gypsy Jazz on guitar. Could you advise me as to which program to buy. (The person I called to buy the program didn't know what I was talking about).

Thanks,

Hi Art,

There are some django styles and solos available in the full Band in a Box program.

You can enter the chords and select one of the styles to suit and then invoke django type guitar soloing.

Here's a quick mp3 of one of them I made for you, a BIAB demo song of one of the Hot Club styles:

BIAB_HotClub_Demo.mp3

BIAB will also display the notation, TAB and guitar fretboard view of what our virtual "django" is playing, we can slow down the tempo, play along and gradually get it up to speed, print out the sheet music or tab, or just make quality recordings like this one of the thing if that is what you want to do.

This is just one of the django type styles, there are a few others in there, too.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
