Hello,
do you know and use the style "_BGS_FGS.STY"? It's a great sounding style!
But - how can you find it? It does not being listet in the StylePicker. But it exists in the BB-folder and in the BBW.LST file.
I found it while I browsed through all the RealTrack Demo Files in the "BB\RealTracks - Demos"-folder. Whenever I find a nice sounding style I mark it as a Favorite style.

By doing so I found out that the "_BGS_FGS.STY" will appear in "Favorite Styles" and in the "Recent Styles" categories, but it isn't to be found in the "All Styles" or any other 'normal' category.
Therefore I checked the "BBW.LST" file and found out that the style exists there, but when rebuilding the StylePicker-list it doesn't get generated into the new list.

Controlling the "Favorite Styles" category again I saw that the entry for the style there differs from all the other styles there in structure: As "Name" only the file name is listed again. The "Memo" and the "Examples" fields are empty. (But the entry in the BBW.LST file contains as well a memo and examples!

I thought I understood the structure of the BBW.LST file, because since many years I use Biab and I always worked on the BBW.LST file in order to have my own style categories appearing there at the bottom of the list.
But the above mentioned problem I don't understand.

Can somebody help me please?!

Thank you!

Ulrich

P.S.:
By the way: Can you explain what the meaning of the leading symbol "_" in a style stands for? Is it RealDrums with brushes - or what was it? I don't remember any more.

Check out the Search and the G (Search again) buttons in the StylePicker. I found it in the Country [All] category.

Hello Rachel,

thank you for your quick answer!
But the specified style name really doesn't appear in my style picker window.
I forgot to mention: I have version 2011 installed, and updated it to the latest 312 build.
Maybe that's the difference between our results?
I know that my problem is a tiny one. But maybe other style files have the same behaviour and don't appear in the style picker window, too?
What I discovered is that there is quit a number of styles that don't appear in the "All Styles"-category. They appear in one or/and the other sub category, though.
I know: with the thousands of styles existing in the meantime it's hard to have the style list accurately. But sometimes this makes it hard to find special styles when you need them.

I wish you a Merry Christmas!

I have a feeling, based on past experience, that the pgmusic development folks are burning the midnight oil, correcting things like this.

Keep your eyes peeled on this forum and the Update Page for BiaB, as they release new Updates, be sure to download and install them, for the fix is likely to be in one of them.

I have the latest build. Are you sure you don't have a Filter turned on? At the top of the StylePicker window, there is a Filter and Show All button. Click on the Show All button to remove any filters. Also, try rebuilding the style list with the Re-Build button.

R, Maybe you see _BGS_BFS but you don't see _BGS_FGS in your StylePicker? I don't see _BGS_FGS ...

Hello Ulrich,

Yes, it's strange that that particular style doesn't show up - not sure why at the moment, but we'll look into it.

Thank you, folks,
for your replies! Thank you Andrew for confirming the strange behaviour of this special file.
What bothers me with this tiny problem is not so much the not appearing of the style in style picker window; much more it is this 'strange behaviour' and my not understanding of it - because since many years I'm working a lot with BBW.LST and rebuilding the Style Picker window according to my personal requirements.
But - as Mac mentioned in a nice way - I don't want the developers team to spoil the "midnight oil" on things like that :-)

Thank you Mac, for this really nice commentary! And - thanks to the BIAB developer team: You are doing are great job!!! I love BIAB! And the new 2011 version is really worth the upgrade!

Greetings from germany.
Have a Merry Christmas!

As I remember correctly, the names of the PGMusic provided styles are also coded into the program. If they are not coded there, they won't show up. It's possible they missed one.

I remember previously where I didn't see styles in the stylepicker and had to wait for an updated BBW.EXE file.

I suspect we will see this fixed in a future update.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
