Joanne Cooper, Singer-Songwriter
Joanne Cooper is an up-and-coming folk singer-songwriter from South Africa. She is a self-sufficient, independent, well rounded musician who writes, performs, records and produces her own music.
Joanne has been performing since she was 13 years old but has only recently started to record and produce music.
Growing up in Zimbabwe in the 60s and 70s, much of her music is nostalgic and will appeal to the older generation. Her musical influences include Kate Wolf, Joan Baez, Carole King, John Denver, Mary Chapin Carpenter, EmmyLou Harris, Mary Black, Michelle Shocked, Gordon Lightfoot, Natalie Griffith, Patty Griffin, Neil Young, Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen.
In August 2014 Joanne signed with digital record company Unique Music and began to commercially release her recordings which are recorded and produced in her tiny home studio.
Joanne's first commercial album "Parallel Course" was released on most international digital platforms in September 2014. In December 2014 she released the single "Peace Dream". All proceeds from the video and song downloads are donated to the New Elephant Nursery at Wild is Life Zimbabwe.
In March 2015 her album of cover songs written by John Denver and Bob Dylan, called "Joanne Cooper Uncovers Dylan and Denver" was released. In May 20125 tow albums of original music were digitally released. These were "Always Here" and "Stories from South Africa and Other Places."
Joanne hopes to bring her music to the older generation who will appreciate her easy going and sentimental approach.
