Hi, folks ! Just wanted to display my version of Roger Miller´s "King Of The Road" sung quite a time back together with my good friend Rabbe who sings lead ! As making utube videos is a bit difficult for this old goat I left it this time while I will have to learn how it´s done ! http://app.box.com/s/22ct8jba9xbjau6buu3e37orwe84wzh6Cheers Dani

I had to smile when I listened to this. I am old enough to remember when this song first came out. Every so often, I play some of these songs on guitar. Kansas City Star, for example.
Kris Kristofferson wrote "Me And Bobby McGee," but Roger covered it also. Perhaps Janis Joplin's cover was more popular, but I liked Roger's cover also.
All this reminded me of things that happened a long time ago. Janis was someone I knew from Beaumont, Texas, when I stayed at my grandmother's house in Vidor, Texas.
Roger is from Fort Worth, Texas. I never met him. There have been a lot of famous musicians from Texas.
Thanks for posting.
Billy
“Amazing! I’ll be working with Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, and Buddy Rich, and you’re telling me it’s not that great of a gig? “Well…” Saint Peter, hesitated, “God’s got this girlfriend who thinks she can sing…”

Nice Version Dani. I often play that one instrumental when I gig. It always brings a smile. For a while Roger Miller had a sideman named Danny Gatton playing in his band. Danny was arguably one of the best to ever strap on a telecaster. He was just as good as they come on guitar. He was a funny guy also Here's a clip of Danny playing for Roger Miller. Even early in his career you can see the virtuosity that was to come from one of the Masters of the Telecaster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0naXxQ7myXM

Every time I browse the forum home page I see "KING OF THE ROAD" then when I'm outside in the garden it gets stuck in my head, then when I wake in the night it's in my head. Posting here will probably make it worst Thanks.
