New/learning BiaB user. One thing about Bar Settings is, at least to me, confusing/non-intuitive.

If I make a change to a bar, I'd expect that change to show in subsequent bars as well, but it does not.

Example:
In bar 1 I mute the guitar.
In bar 2, if I open the bar settings (F5), I'd expect the guitar to show "Mute" (although maybe "Muted" would be more accurate?).

I realize the dialog says "Instrument Changes at This Bar", so, technically, the guitar has not "changed" at bar 2. But it is in a different state than the dialog visually presents (at least to me).

I could see it really become confusing if there were many changes in bar 1 (guitar muted, vocals come in, piano fades, etc.) - and bar 2 settings showed nothing?!

I know you can use "Print Summary" to see all changes, but it would be much easier/quicker if I could see the state of each instrument on any particular bar.

Am I missing a setting?

Sounds to me like you figured it out fine. That is the way it works. BIAB can be a beast at times.

By the way, welcome to the forum. grin

I think one question here is, if you 'query' a particular measure, would you see a full report of any previous F5 actions that affect the one bar you are looking at? The answer is No. The way around this is to take note of two things: first, a red underscore at the measure number tells you something was adjusted there; and second, you can look in the Song Memo and see a detailed list of all F5 actions affecting the song.

Yes, welcome to the forum.

Possibly related, I do recall a discussion that the rules for F5 might be different on that first measure. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Thanks for all the helpful comments! Matt, I'm aware of the red bar (which is kind of helpful). The Song Memo just links me back to the Bar Summary. Again, helpful, but it would still be nice to see the status as I described.

True. But just checking, when you click on the Song Form icon and click on the Bar Summary button, and see the F5 summary, is there something else you need to see? Or is it just a question of making the info easier to find?
