When I import a MIDI file into an RB project where I already have the Chords defined, the import will successfully put the MIDI file on a new track, but it will override the chords already defined and create new chords. This happens during "File..Import" or either through drag and drop. Is there a way to simply import the MIDI file without creating new chords? I'm not getting much help in the manual.

In the chords window, under options.
Disable this feature.

Thanks - I should have said that I had already tried that, both with the the "ask first" and "never" options selected on the auto-interpret chords. I'll try again tonight, but I'm pretty sure when I set it to "never" option, it didn't work. Perhaps I needed to re-start RB for it to take effect.

Just to report back - no joy. I re-started RB, made sure the "auto interpret" option was set to "never", and importing a MIDI file will cause the existing chords to be over-written. Perhaps it's a bug, I have submitted this to PG tech support. Jeff

Update: PG Music was able to reproduce the behavior and suggested this work around.
"I suggest that you use File | Load Scrap to open the MIDI file. This command loads the file into the 'clipboard', then you can paste it into your song"
-This worked great and did not alter the previously defined chord structure. Jeff

Yeah, I find this solution a little 'Klunky' but it works.

Another way is to use File > Import seq file as a NEW song - this seems to work. I have the Chords Window Options set to "Never".
