Hi,
Has anyone used a US-1641 for recording audio in either RealBand or PowerTracks, and do you have any tips? What OS do you have?

Hello,
I am a long time Band in an Box user. I have the Mac version 2009.5 Build 8 of BIAB running an a current model iMac with the current Mac 10.6 OS. I can't get the audio to go out through the Tascam US-1641 audio interface. Whenever the interface is on and selected in the audio settings panel, Band In A Box just sits there and won't even play (the measures don't advance). No audio goes out the Tascam. The Tascam works perfectly with all other apps that I run.
Please tell me how to fix this.

Hello Matthew,
I suggested asking your question in a new thread in the Band-in-a-Box for Macintosh forum...
In the mean-time, is the problem you are having with MIDI tracks or audio (RealTracks)? Do other programs, like iTunes, play through your external device? Do you have it selected in the System Preferences - Audio panel?

The problem is apparently in the way that Band In a Box 2009.5 MAC signs in to its Midi settings. After emailing with Rob there, we found this fix though it is not very satifactory:
The first time I run Band In A Box and whenever I open a song, I get no sound out of the Tascam US-1641. I always have to open the menu "Select Midi Driver or DLS synth... " and select the Apple DLS Synth. Then I have to click OK to close it or I get no sound. I have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME I open a song file in BIAB- EVEN IF the "Apple DLS synth" is already selected in the menu "Select Midi Driver or DLS synth... ". This makes BIAB totally useless on a gig.
Band In A Box 2009.5 MAC is not initializing something properly when it first opens.
I am now told I have to pay for the 2010.5 upgrade and there is no guarantee this will even fix it. Obviously this isn't the solution I was looking for. The audio coding is not working right in 2009.5 MAC and it should work. PG won't fix their malfunctioning 2009.5 software. Clearly I shouldn't have to open the dialogue box every time I load a song just to be able to hear it.
Not cool. Boo on PG Music. I'm a BIAB user (and was a beta tester) since the mid 1990's

...Well audio is still not working correctly with the Tascam US-1641 as of version Band-in-a-Box 2011 Update - Build 26 for MAC. I spent more money on yet another upgrade for the 2011 Mac version and still no go. I have uninstalled all the Tascam drivers and re-installed. Audio still will not pass and Band In a Box freezes until I quickly switch off then on the Tascam -US-1641. Then it all works until the next time I load a song.
ALL OTHER AUDIO APPS THAT I OWN WORK FINE WITH THE TASCAM -US-1641. Band In A Box is the only app that does not work with the Tascam US-1641 on a Mac.
I can only deduce that there still remains a problem with Band In A Box in the way it initializes the audio/midi drivers after a song is loaded into BIAB.
I have spent a lot of time in the past with PG Music tech support and they kindly tried to help fix the problem. We spent a lot of time going over things but ultimately we were unsuccessful.
So the only fix I can see (short of using the Mac built-in audio jacks directly) is that I have to switch off the Tascam US-1641 every single time I load in a new song into BIAB. I really don't want to spend more money trying to fix this. If PG Music would be so kind and send me the latest version if they think it has been resolved I would be glad to give it another go. But I can't pour in more good money after the bad.
I'm very frustrated. Are there any other Mac users using the Tascam US-1641 on a Mac successfully with BIAB? Please contact me.

Could this be related to the 8-channel vs. 16-channel issue that eddie1261 experienced and you fixed recently in windows version?
