I recorded some vocals in a track and I am trying to add some reverb to it. I am going through the edit option to do it. When I click on reverb, I get a pop up that says "the plug in you selected does not support 24 bit or 96 k files".
I have used this several times before on other computers of mine. Does anyone have a solution?

The system this occurs on must be set to 24 bit recording and the others are set to 16 bit recording.. that would explain the error message
Beside the Track name (left side, under the track number) you'll see a little arrow that leads to a dropdown.
Click that, then 'Edit DX FX'
Use the realtime reverb there.
It should support the file format.
Another option (if you want to hard write it) is to use the Edit pulldown and select "Audio Effects-Realtime DX FX'
This will allow hard writing of the effects in some cases while working in 24 bit formats.
The rest of the basic effects under the 'Edit-Audio effects' pulldown only support 16 bit processing.
If this doesn't work you can add another VST reverb that is compatible with the file format.
Another option is to set the program on the new system to 16 bit and then open the file, at which point the program should ask to convert the song to 16 bit and all the edit dropdown FX would then work. This is done in the Options-Preferences-Audio area. You'll have to do this when you firat open the program, and then open the file after that so it asks about converting.
24/96 is a pretty large bit rate, is that what you are using?
Bet you don't hear a diference between that and 24/48 or 24/44 ..
and will save some disc space.

Thanks RHARV. This really helped me a lot!
The bit rate is set at 24-44. I probably start using the DXI/VST to add my fx in now. Is that what you suggest? Whisc bit rate do you suggest if so?

I run the realtime effects from the arrow dropdown.
Usually 24/44 or 24/48 is best quality for size ratio.
Sometimes I forget to check on a new project and end up using whatever the previous song was, which is often 16/44 when working with others.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
