I doubt I'm the first one asking this, but I wasn't able to find the right search terms it seems.
After I spent some time changing out the instrument plugins and adding some VSTfx plugins in the mixer, I sometime would like to try a different style but keep my instruments and plugin chains intact. How would I best accomplish that?
...Save Group then Load Group to save\load the chain.
Is that even a thing? Sounds like he is suggesting you save and load different custom styles. Or perhaps you need to be saving and loading different versions of the same song.
I'm anxious to see how this works out for you since the different styles need to replace the current instruments. That is how it works.
OK, that guy sure looks like me. I see the "save/load group" and I understand the context. But I didn't connect that that may be what the OP was needing.
The OP will still lose all his track content, well, only those present in the new Style which duplicate the specific track.
But if he likes the new style, he can reload the track contents from the saved Group to bring back anything which has been deleted.
Seems he may be better off copying specific content down to the bottom of the Utility tracks. Good chance they will be safe down there and not replaced any new style. There may be one problem with this. There has been a back and forth in programing with how BIAB introduces the new style. They may currently replace the entire prior tracks and not just the duplicate ones.
If you have other instruments and FX all setup on the Utility and BB tracks you can try using F5 bar settings to change the STY at bar 1 this should leave the Utility tracks instruments and their FX intact, the FX should stay on the BB tracks though I think it will still use the base style instrument names ?
Sounds like he is suggesting you save and load different custom styles. Or perhaps you need to be saving and loading different versions of the same song.
I thought my post was pretty clear. I want to keep all the instrument plugins (as well as any added VSTfx on the instrument channels) when changing a style for the entire song.

Why do they need to do that? If I'm changing styles that uses the same instrumentation, I don't see why they have to.

Thanks Muso, this work-around seem to do the trick.
