I first wrote this song more than 40 years ago after reading the poem Footprints In The Sand. My gospel singing group, Rea Borne, recorded it as the title track to our second album. This will be the third rendition of the song, but the words tell the same story of God's love and compassion.

I built the music tracks in BIAB 2023 and added the vocals and extra instruments in Studio One.

The style I used for this song was _ALLISF1.STY. I used the following RealTracks:
Bass=519 Drums=NashvilleEven8 AC Guitar Strum=405 AC Guitar Finger Picked=522 Electric Guitar=3777 Vocal Oohs=3027 Vocal Aahs=3020

I played the flute, strings, and flugelhorn in Studio One using the Presence instrument software.
I played the solo guitar parts on a Fender Telecaster.

That is a classic story. Cool that you turned it into a song.

This is well done. Nice work on the instruments. The mix is solid and sounds smooth.

The only nit I have is that the vocal doesn't sound like it's in the same room with the band. The choice of reverb is the issue. You have 2 different sonic environments going on there. Fix that and this is top quality stuff.

Def the case that the vocal sounds like it is coming from on high & it's a bit loud - the Spaghetti baritone guitar should be at about the same level as the vocal too.
A little de-essing would also be useful.
I recommend you kill the reverb in BIAB and add your own - preferably the same as the one on the vocal though not as much.
From a lyrical standpoint I'd offer that outside of a christian audience the narrative makes no sense.
Cool voice.

Barry, you did an outstanding job singing a classic story.
Great vocal and backing band.
I do agree about the reverb. I always try to add all of my effects in my DAW. Thus all BiaB tracks are sans any effects when I import them.

When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

Hi, Barry.

Nice version, very '70s.

Others have mentioned the reverb, and I agree - the mix sounds distant.

Good job on the vocals and the arrangements.

I guess this song was "rea-born". wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
