If I upgrade to Audiophile, will my existing song be updated to the wav files? Or is there an easy solution, if it is not done automatically?

Hi Leo,
To access the Audiophile wav files, it is necessary to point your computer to the USB drive on which the Audiophile program stores all the Realtracks and Realdrums. This is easily accomplished under the Realtracks Settings and the Realdrums Settings. Once BIAB is configured in this way, and the USB drive is plugged in, when you load and generate a songfile, the Audiophile wavs will be used for whatever song is being generated. This is independent of when the songfile was created.
I hope this helps. --Noel

Hi Noel,
It helps a little bit. My main concern is the songs I have already created with the wma files. I assume the wav files have the same name, but their location is different. In other words, can I upgrade my existing wma songs to wav songs.

The audiophile version has both WAV files and same-named WMA files together in each folder of RealTracks. If BIAB finds a WAV file, it loads it. Otherwise it loads, then uncompresses, the WMA file.
You should be fine. As Noel said, just make sure Preferences, RealTracks points to the location of the Audiophile files.
About existing songs, it’s possible you should unfreeze any songs that are frozen. I’m not sure if this is necessary but it’s easy to do. I will get the answer.
You might find the article I wrote on the differences between the audiophile and regular versions to be of interest. It’s the first sticky post in the Tips and Tricks Forum.

About existing songs, it’s possible you should unfreeze any songs that are frozen. I’m not sure if this is necessary but it’s easy to do. I will get the answer. If it were me, I think I would not unfreeze tracks unless I was happy that they would be regenerated. Presumably though, being frozen means you would not be happy with that. Caution: I'm guessing from here from what little I know about what happens under the surface, but I get the impression that BIAB will use the .wav files even if the tracks are frozen, as I think the indexing method PGM uses allows for that. I suggest keep tracks frozen and they will likely become audiophile. If they don't, only then decide whether to unfreeze and regenerate.

It doesn't matter if the songs are frozen - the frozen files don't contain the audio data, just instructions about how to use the audio data which is why the files are so small. If you play/render the song with your Audiophile version, it will use the uncompressed wave files provided they exist there in your RealTracks folder.

Thanks Andrew.
I was pretty sure that was the case, but I'm always a bit wary when I'm unsure.
Excellent BTW ... I sometimes give PGM a hard time, but also recognise the often great way things are handled. It would have been so easy for wma and wav generation to have been different and not compatible.

If you play/render the song with your Audiophile version, it will use the uncompressed wave files provided they exist there in your RealTracks folder. I have spent years n years showing all that with Reaper playing RT RD files instantly from that audio data, so many posts trying to get through it's ridiculous, how Biab and BBPlugin\BPlugin Standalone can be made to generate/play faster rather than loading all the audio data together in RAM then rendering, BUT it seems to go over the top of everyone's head as though it's some weird obscure thing I'm talking about. Most everyone has decent hardware now but the software still does things the old long way. When DAW's play back audio files they don't have to join them all together into RAM first. Reaper even plays the wma/m4a direct, that I asked for with Reaper and they talked and communicated about it and did it, and after some testing and ironing out of issues it all worked, not years down the track but a matter of days. OMG even showing a Biab Live Arranger working this way ! but ZERO understanding/responding, then further as I said would happen, a Live Arranger keybord will be released with RealTracks while PG sleeps, and sure enough a company has released that, that was a fair warning I gave.
