My intention is for the song to be funny but it's a fine line between funny and preachy. Hoping to get some feedback on the overall song and the mix levels. Thanks for checking it out. Bass: EZ bass Lyrics: I hope that heaven is a place where everyone can share the same space And liberals and conservatives can exist in perfect harmony Cause if you live a good life and you seal the deal and you end up in heaven how are you going to feel If when you get there there’s people who want to argue with you about politics *** Why can’t we just all get along Why can’t we live and let be Why can’t we just all mind our own business And agree to disagree *** Will you let it go or will you keep on fighting even after your first Saint Peter sighting Or will you check the TV to see if there’s CNN or Fox News in Heaven They had to pry your gun from your cold dead hand but now that you’re a soul in a spiritual land Will you still demand your second amendment rights to protect yourself in heaven *** I hope that in in heaven you can eat real steak with a bunch of vegans eating meat that’s fake As you pose for a photo with Jesus trying to re-enact that painting of the last supper. If you bump into that undocumented guy who you sent back to his country will you look him in the eye. will you tell he’s not welcome in the United States part of heaven? *** All these people with extreme positions shouting to their hearts content Like demented performance artists in a circus tent They can try to push our buttons be we don’t have to let them They can invite us to their party but we don’t have to show up. *** Why can’t we just all get along Why can’t we live and let be Why can’t we just all mind our own business And agree to disagree *** Why can’t we just all get along Why can’t we live and let be Why can’t we just all mind our own business And agree to disagree

Very good, Joe. Man, so many lyrics and such a good delivery. I like the harmonies; at times they are very subtle but always affective. Yep, funny for sure. Preachy could just be another word for good advice. Sometimes in the mix I felt my left ear (headphones) was overwhelmed and took away from the vocals. IF that's not just me, you could turn up the vocal to overwhelm the left. Good write!

You bring up a lot of good points in this song.
Everything is spot on in this one.

Hi, Joe. A fun write. A bit hard to hear, but easy to follow with the lyrics written.  It reminds me a bit of Extract from Captain Stormfield’s Visit to Heaven by Mark Twain: "That is the main charm of heaven—there’s all kinds here—which wouldn’t be the case if you let the preachers tell it. Anybody can find the sort he prefers, here, and he just lets the others alone, and they let him alone. When the Deity builds a heaven, it is built right, and on a liberal plan.” I enjoyed the listen!

Joe...I enjoyed the song...heaven remains God's mystery but your questions are fair, "Why can't we...? I really like your delivery and don't know if you've tweaked the mix again but it sounded fine to me...smart writing...funny in a sad way or sad in a funny way... which way? either way...that remains a mystery too!

I really appreciate your perspective on the song (especially coming from your Christian music background). As for the song, I haven’t tweaked the mix since I first posted it but I would like to make some adjustments. From my perspective, the song sounds decent on my Sony MDR-7506 headphones. It also sounds okay in the car and also on my standard apple wired earbuds. However when I play it on my apple AirPods it sounds kind of thin. Right now it’s mastered using just the out of the box Ozone settings.

I started with "updated" mix. Solid musical bed. Good vocals, I could make out most of lyrics without looking. Some good messages. Well done and thank you for sharing.
