Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful advice on the original version I did of this amazing chorus by Giuseppe Verdi. I took on board so much of it, especially Deej's advice about the breaks ... I actually managed to somehow mis-read the length of the breaks in the previous version!!! Argh. Still ... here's the corrected version. I changed BIAB style, I added a flute (instead of my own voice) ... see what you think? I hope that, this time, it's better :-) VERDI: Va, Pensiero (final version) For comparison, here's a YouTube video of the original Verdi chorus. The original is, of course, the definitive version by far ... but I really hope that, with the superb help of BIAB, I've done it some sort of justice, this time. See what you think? Well, classical music isn't in my musical sweet spot, but I like what you've done. Assuming your flute was a sample, you may wish to try a sample that includes breathing as those can sound less like a synth. Thanks for breaking me out of my comfort zone!

Ron, floyd, Bob: thanks so much (and sorry I reply so late, it's crazy round here, at times!).
Ron: I guess I think that music is music, whatever the style ... and the same applies, of course, to "good" and "bad" music. I love being taken out of my "comfort zone", musically, and I like to try to get others out of theirs, too, because that way we discover more good music than we ever thought existed, right? One can't go too far wrong with a melody by Verdi...dare I say a ever GREEN?
I'm pleased it wasn't a Stars On 45/disco version.

Hi James, This is nicely done. The arrangement and the mix are great. I have to confess, though, that I really liked the version with you singing. I couldn't get the image of Andy Williams out of my mind while I listened. You have a really nice voice All the best, --Noel

Yes, I like the revision a lot. The flute works, but like Noel, I kinda likes the version with you singing over it--just had a nice mood to it. J&B with an interesting suggestion to do a version using both--could be interesting. Nice work here, James!
