I've switch from Cubase to Studio One. When I drag the track(s) to Cubase they import directly into Cubase, but if I do the same in Studio One it gets an error message, saying it can't find the file. I can go into the BB/Drag and Drop folder and manually get the file and drag it into Studio One, but this is several extra steps, and the whole purpose of this function is to have quick access to go to and from your DAW for composing.
Does anyone know how to get this to work in Studio One? Is it a Windows thing, maybe have to change the folders or something?

I'm not sure exactly what method you used, but I normally drag to the drop zone, wait for it to change color (green) then drag it from the drop zone to the DAW. Does that method work?

If you are dragging direct from the Mixer or top track you will get that error, use the DROP WAV as S1 is looking for the wav that has not finished being rendered yet: ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=25741&filename=BB23-S1-Drag-Drop2.gif) ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=25742&filename=BB23-S1-Drag-Drop3.gif)

Thank you Audio Track and Musocity,
That method works perfectly for me in Studio One. For some reason with Cubase it was never necessary, because a direct drag from the top column of either mix or tracks would open in the DAW without the error message, so I got used to that. There must be something different about the file structure and import from BIAB between S1 and Cubase, but it is good to know how to do it because I am loving S1 after using Cubase for about 30 years.

Reaper will also work when dragged direct from the track name because it will wait for it. You just need to post in the PreSonus forum and let them know there is an issue.

Yeah, if Reaper and Cubase both wait for the render, but Studio One does not, it is therefore an S1 issue. The funny thing is that Studio One claims to be the Drag&Drop King, in that you can drag and drop anything to anywhere, effects, sends, tracks, files, and more. So maybe they made it too fast to handle BIAB rendering, which only takes a little while, but it wants everything immediately. It's trying to get an incomplete file.

Just to add, BIAB has a folder named /BB/DragDrop. A file there can be dragged into Studio One.
I'm not saying it shouldn't be better. A number of DAWs are listed in the BIAB Help as working with a direct drag, but Studio One is not listed. And for those DAWs that require Drag/Drop, the /DragDrop folder can get large fast. THere is a checkbox somewhere to erase the contents of that folder upon starting BIAB.
All in all, the process seems rather convoluted to me when Studio One is involved.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Yes, the Drag&Drop Folder can get huge, so I make a point of keeping a shortcut to it on my desktop and delete files when I replace or no longer need them. With Studio One it is a shame to have the two-step process of first dragging to the drop zone then to S1, but at least it works. Also, when I replace files in a Studio One session and delete the old ones, I make sure to hit song>remove unused files, otherwise the program looks for the old files everything you reopen. Of course, you can rename and relocate the Drag&Drop folder if you like in preferences, but I just keep it where it is. I didn't know BIAB had an option to automatically delete contents of the folder, but I would be wary of it if it contains files that you may still want when you open a DAW session later.

Yes it's a problem with Drag & Drop folder filling up and the Plugin's SavedTracks folder with GB of files. If they use the play direct source files in the Plugin the DAW will be just referencing the RealTracks/Drums source files without creating any new files so no files will be lost or deleted with the DAW complaining about missing project files.
