DC Ron,

That's a classy, jazzy sounding song! A lovely lyric delivered by a great vocal! The piano really makes this song pop!

Thanks, TB

Good use of tracks give this that lounge bar atmosphere.
DC does Buble. Smooth.

This is delightful and, yes, we could also envision Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse trading off on this.
A few nights ago we were watching an old video of him and Lady Gaga as he is one of our favorite singers.

The vocal is so smooth and the light backing sets the scene well too.

We love these lines:

“Because you’re just as sexy with florescent lights
And cable network news”

Lovely!

Another good song from you, Ron...a song worth putting on repeat. Did you write the music? Love that melody.

Floyd, THANKS for the listen! I spent a couple of decades immersed in jazz, but don't usually write in that genre. However, these lyrics were too good to pass up...

Nigel, glad you enjoyed it. I love the slinky feel of these types of songs, too. Dusty really dug deep for the vocals, and I love them, too. THANKS!!

Torrey, "classy" isn't an adjective frequently applied to anything I do, but I appreciate it. Ha! The MIDI piano transcript of this RealTrack is extraordinarily nuanced, and I really like the way it turned out, too. The Waves Grand Rhapsody plugin is great. I left in a bit of the pedal release emulation at the end. Blows my mind. THANKS for the feedback!

Peter, thank you so much for the listen! I love to tinker with arrangements, so frequently do. But this one sounded so "right" out of the box that I've only BARELY changed anything since. When a blind squirrel finds an acorn, he NEVER tosses it. Ha!

Vic, had to Google "Buble". Oh, wow...If I were THAT cool I'd never need air conditioning. Ha! Jazz lounge would be the right reference point, I think, though I've been to exactly one. It was memorable though. THANKS for the listen!

Janice and Bud, so glad you enjoyed it! Dusty (the vocalist) is more known for his throaty hard rock vocals, but he is a student of music and can sing anything. He picked on the head right away and then launched into a subtle-but-awesome improvisation of the melody as he got near the end. Just mind blowing (again). These lyrics were written in 1982, so today might be "LED lights" and "NY Times news" today. But that wouldn't be NEARLY as poetical, would it? THANK YOU for the listen!

Ezekial, yes, I wrote the music, glad you liked it! My workflow is based on turning my lyricist's lyrics sheet into a song, or sometimes more than one song. The half step passing notes in the melody can be overused, but they can also really make a melody pop in moderation. I like the way this one turned out, too. THANKS for the listen and feedback!

Yes, that was different, never would have expected after your rock songs. But this is a charming romantic song in a nostalgic jazz mood with a pleasantly warm vocal performance. Great mix. But still I was hoping to hear some Marty McFly in the solo wink

Janne, THANKS for the listen! Was hoping to surprise folks a bit, so...SCORE, I guess. Ha! Turns out jazz is a guilty pleasure for both the vocalist and me. The lyricst...not so much. But in this case he inadvertently composed a really nice contemporary jazz lyric.

Well, Mary McFly was way ahead of his time and I'm decidedly way BEHIND the times. So I just tried to slide into the pocket for a few licks in the outro. Maybe next time!!

Good vocals! The timbre of your voice fondly reminds me of Barry Manilow.
The song is very well produced too.

Rob, THANKS for the listen! Dusty (the vocalist) will get a kick out of the Barry Manilow comparison. He's much better known as a rocker than a crooner, but he'll be pleased for sure. He told me he was trying to channel his inner Nat King Cole. Ha!
