I've tried highlighting the section of the piano roll that I want to copy and hitting ctrl "C". Switched to the other project, and placed the cursor in the correct insert spot on the Time Ruler in the other project... But nothing happens if I hit ctrl "V" or paste from the edit menu.
I hope that there's a way to do this, and would appreciate the help of a more experienced user. Thanks!
What version and build are you using please? This works for me in the 2023 (1013) version.
You could also try the copy/paste functions in the menu that appears when you right click the notes in the PianoRoll. Just in case if it is an issue with the keyboard.
I'm using BIAB Win 2023 Build 1013. I tried using the right click menu to copy, but when I switch to the other project and right click to paste, it's grayed out. Thanks for your response.
It doesn't work for me either if I switch to a different instance of BiaB, Paste only works if I paste into the same instance.
Chantelle, could you kindly describe the actual steps you took?
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.

I can copy and past the "chord chart" between two different instances of BIAB when both are open at the same time (Pref-allow mutiple occurrence). But I can't copy and past a string of midi in the piano-roll for a RT track. I don't think that can be done even within the same occurence? Oh the mystery of BIAB.
In the Piano Roll (2023 Win) you can certainly copy notes and paste them elsewhere on the same track, within the same "instance". Is that what you're referring to DrDan?
Not exactly, I was trying to copy notes and paste them elsewhere on a different track, within a different "instance". I thought that was the premise for the OP? He wanted to paste in a different file.

Correct, to a different file.
And yes copying chords from the chord sheet does work... But that's a totally different issue. Thanks
I hope Chantelle can come back to us with a method that works.
From what I can determine, the data is not saved in the Windows global copy buffer, but only in an internal local BiaB buffer.

You should be able to highlight the section of bars then drag the track name to DROP MID then drag MID into the other Biab using Merge option and set amount of bars to insert before. Say I want to copy bars 5-8 I set bars to insert before is 6 (2 count-in an 4 bars).

I didn't have much success with that method.
I could drag the track to the MIDI drop zone, and drag it from the drop zone to the second instance,
The Merge with existing data was disabled when I tried to drag to the same track in the second instance.
Definitely it gave unexpected results, including renaming the destination track as Strings, with no notation on it.
Cut / copy / paste options would be preferable.
