Hi I have my Motu M2 audio interface set to 48000 hz. When I open BIAB I get a msg "the sample rate has been changed to 44,100 Hz" and BIAB freezes. I have to force close and set my audio interface to 44,100. BIAB should support 48000hz? This happened after I updated to windows 11 BIAB 2023 (1013). Any ideas...

As long as I’ve used BIAB I’ve had to set all digital audio to 16-bit, 44.1K sampling rate. This includes Windows as well as any settings for the device.
I think this would be a good suggestion to make in the Wishlist forum. I agree, it’s time higher rates were supported. Folks working primarily in video need that 48K.
But first I want to look over the settings in BIAB 2024 and make sure my understanding is still correct.

But experience tells me to just keep it at 44.1 for BIAB. Fact is I only use the MOTU Asio for recording and do little of that in BIAB where I just set MME, in which case there is no setting to adjust the sample rate that I am aware of. ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=26203&filename=Screenshot 2023-12-07 103629.png)

Thanks Dan! I see a few issues here:
Svenne, did you buy BIAB 2023 within the last month? If so, you should contact PG Music for an update to 2024.
This presupposes the user is using an ASIO driver, which I never do in BIAB. I save the ASIO driver for the software that is doing recording. However, with BIAB becoming increasingly powerful, I can see it is now more likely that someone would do that. And I'm not getting into a multi-client ASIO discussion here.
Notice how the Help says it is using a built-in resampler. I would like to know more about that. I take this statement to mean BIAB is still working only in 44.1 and that is the reason Dan may be getting better results by changing his devices to 44.1 rather than use BIAB's internal conversion.
And whatever you decide to do, make sure the Windows sound settings match.

I think it's a windows 11 problem, before upgrading to windows 11 my Motu M2 just changed to 44.1 Khz and everything was fine. I can see it still does when I open BIAB, but something goes wrong in BIAB and it freezes, after I get the msg.

Right-click on the little speaker icon in the lower right of your monitor and bring up Sound Settings. Go to System, Sound. Expand on the right for your output and input devices and make sure they are set to Format: 2 channels, 16 bit, 44100 Hz.

Windows 10, Komplete audio asio driver set to 44100. All my windows sound outputs are set to 44100. I still get the "sample rate changed" message when first using BB (after bootup or waking up from sleep mode). After clicking on the ok button BB does not respond and I have to force it closed in the task manager. I then run the program again and all is fine. This started happening in 2023 and is continuing to happen in 2024.

Hi there!
We recommend setting the sample rate for your connected audio devices to 44.1kHz (44100Hz), as this is the sample rate that the RealTracks and RealDrums operate at, and which Band-in-a-Box runs at. While it is possible to import and export tracks at different sample rates in Band-in-a-Box, using any audio devices set to a sample rate other than 44.1kHz will cause issues and accompanying error messages.
We hope this helps! If there is anything else we may help with, please feel free to reach out.
Best,
Jerry

It's also worth mentioning that BIAB forces 44,100hz sample rate whenever using ASIO, as ASIO needs to be synchronized to whatever software it's working with - so if you want to use other sample rates you should switch to WAS. There BB will use whatever sample rate is set up as the Windows default, or whatever sample rate your DAW is set to if it uses ASIO.

It would be very helpful if that info were in a FAQ. We never did learn much about the WAS driver when it was made possible.

As far as I can tell I have all my connected audio devices set to 44.1, 16-bit except my microphone which does not offer that as a sample rate. Every time after booting or waking from sleep I get the sample rate change message. Besides my ASIO driver (Komplete Audio 6) and the various devices in Windows 10 sound settings is there something else I should be looking for to change? I can force close BB when I get the sample rate change message then next time I run BB it is fine so it's not that big of an issue, just a minor inconvenience.

To avoid the annoyance, don’t use the ASIO driver in BIAB. Unless you record within BIAB, MME should work fine. But no, I don’t know how to fix this if you keep the ASIO driver.

Good idea. I don't do any audio recording so I might just switch over to one of the windows drivers.
