I've made this a separate thread from a similar request for transport controls ( here ) Some folks might agree with one but not the other. In addition to the Transport Controls being added to the top of the Tracks Window... I'd like to see a Button that would function like ctrl-F8 - regen the selected area. So that you don't have to switch from "mouse attention" (highlighting the selection) and "keyboard attention" (find the Ctrl button and the F8 button on the keyboard). It should be in the same area as the transport controls, but obviously separated from them.

A reasonable request. In the Tracks View, most of the work is done using the mouse only. So a button that allows regeneration of selected Real Tracks would be an improvement, allowing all tasks to be completed with the mouse.

I will try not to derail your thread. Definitely +1
But.... Would it be nicer if we had a floating, non modal /dockable to toolbar set Quick Buttons that you can assign virtually any shortcut command as Ctrl+F8?
I think a great place for that is the cluster to the left of transport (New, Save As, etc.). So you can replace existing button(s), with other button(s) of your choice.

I think a discussion about definable shortcuts should be in a thread of its own.

custom button=any button.
I would rather have a more universal idea that can satisfy FJs request and many others of similar nature.
P.S. Yes, "definable shortcuts" would be best... but I am strictly talking for existing shortcuts, such as Ctrl+F8 (which will be pretty popular soon, once people catch up to the idea)
