Excellent choice for a song, Bob, and I like the pic you made for it. Your lyrics are so terrific. Excellent choice of records too. I was homeless once, but still had a stereo and 3 Joni albums (that's all she had then). Outstanding Bob Dean at his best.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Bob...I always love your tracks...there's a folky (a compliment) comfort in this piece...your writing and production skills are obvious to everyone I'm sure...I love the acoustic presentation and gentle flow of the melody...though the lyric is a bit obscure (to me) it comes across with an encouraging invitation that reaches out to the listener...there is a mystery of the context which intrigues me...your vocal is perfect...a pleasure to listen to.

Hi Bob, I too am unfamiliar with her music, but I sure liked the sound on your recording. For me, even though I don't know Joni's stuff, and so I don't really know the specific album you're referencing, I was clear that you were referring to "that" record. Most of us have one or more of "that" record in our minds that really got to us over the years, so I thought the song was very relatable and well done. Thanks for sharing it.

I mentally refer to you are Research Bob as I have to look into the references in your songs before "understanding".
Not that I need to understand...they are uniformly warm, intimate and wonderful without my blanks being filled.
Lovely song, not icepickish like the Joni one referred to, (yeah, I know but JM & I don't get along in my ears).
You've a lovely turn of phrase.

Cheers

Oh my word. One of your best. The Joni Mitchell reference is stunning, and fits perfectly. You're a master storyteller, as I've told you before. Even so, you have beaten your own high standard, here. This is wow.

First class lyric writing. But that's no surprise.

"There’s a blue ghost in the hallway
And I think I’m seeing shadows
That record still makes me come undone"

Oh, yeah!

I like the addition of the piano. Good chorus.

Bob,

I feel strongly Bob Dylan in this tune.
It's like listening to one of Dylan's unreleased songs.
The way you sing is just amazing.
The accompaniment is simple but firmly supports your vocals.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.
