Easy way to make a Real/MIDI Hybrid style, wish list good one? Hi, I know already some post about this. Like GW03-02..Hybrid style question . Just I want put it from my perspective now. This is what I did: 1- I load a RealTrack Style. For example, Bossa with Guitar, with Bass, Guitar and Drums Now I want to add a MIDI Piano only from a MIDI style, let say Bossa with Piano, then: 2- I go to 'Make a Hybrid Style' . 3- once there in the dialog I click on 'Clear All', thinking of avoid my RealTracks instruments setting be changed or cleared. 4- I select the MIDI style I want for Piano. 5- Click 'OK (Re)Generate style with name' and Save it MIDI new instrument is there but I get removed the real instruments I selected previously and RT settings are not preserved. Also I noted the Hybrid Style dialog let me to 'Choose' a RealStyle directly from disk, but it doesn't appear after Re-generate. On click nothing warn about it is not possible!. (or I missed something in manual?) It could be cool to count with the possibilitie of freely create HybridStyles from Real and MIDI styles. I said 'freely' what also means 'easily', because the only way I found for make a Real/MIDI hybridStyle is making the HybridStyle first and then loading the Real instruments you want one by one. A bit cumbersome if you already loaded a RealStyle set of 5 or 6 Real Instruments and only need a MIDI instrument, specially if you are testing it until you get one you will like. There are a world of great MIDI instruments working great with Real ones, MIDI styles represent years of developing, many of them sound really good combined with RealTracks. Carlos

Hi Carlos,
Sounds like that method doesn't preserve the RT settings in the target style. Here's an alternative method:
Load the style you want to edit (the target). Ctl-Shift-F9 (opens the style editor) => Alt-F3 (import instrument from another style). Save the new style under a different name if you don't want to lose the original.
This permits importing a midi instrument from another (source) style without losing the RT assignment(s) that are in the target. At least, it seems to work here - build 295. You do need to know which source style you want to use before initiating the sequence, because you need to choose it from the file open dialog.
In general, this method of "hybridizing" a style is more flexible than "make a hybrid style," because this one permits migration of instruments, eg. you can put the guitar patterns from the source style into the string patterns for the target style. It's not unlimited - can't put bass or drum patterns in the other instruments - but there is that extra flexibility if you want it.
HTH -Ron

Carlos,
You can make a hybrid with a single instrument up to 5 instruments. Select "blank 4/4" for the parts where you are going to add RT's in the Hybrid Style Maker. Then add your RT's.

Hi Ron, thanks so much for help, I did test it, as you said not all the flexible we want, but it work in a more effective way than standard Hybrid method. The plus of interchangeable instruments bring even more enhancement to custom style making. I remember of trying the Style Maker in a old version but RT adding didn't work , in that moment it was not important to me anyway. I am sure a more direct and improved way for setting custom Real/MIDI Hybrid could be a nice feature in a future BIAB rev., mainly featuring functions that letting user to check real time interaction of chose instruments with the rest of ones in set. That could speed up the process of making a more tight to your needs Hybrid style. Like I said, there is a world of Real Instruments hybrid experimentation latent in the miriad of MIDI styles made for BIAB by years! . I think of Band in a Box, just like now it is, a wonderful Pandora Box with sweet features like Styles maker and "Hybridization" freedom and plenty of enhancements possibilities.

You right Trax, thanks. I know that, but it will be a issue if you have to set every Real Instrument again in your set, because of Hybrid maker remove your previous instruments (Real) selection when you hit save.
