Just checking so I understand your import request. Do you mean importing a midi file that loads automatically set to the Utility Tracks differently than it currently does?
Charlie, thanks but there is far more to it.
1. You show the "Import Melody from MIDI File" dialog box, with the channels spread to the individual Utility Tracks. However... The track assignments all default
to the same track and you must assign
each track manually and individually, and then once you import the tracks, you have to
go to each track in the mixer and right click on each and assign the matching channel. Very tedious, especially if you are doing several files.
2. Then, if you haven't imported Chords from the MIDI file first, prior to "Importing Melody from MIDI File", when you do, EVEN IF ALL THE TRACKS ARE FROZEN, if you go to "Import chords from MIDI File" and EVEN IF YOU SELECT DON'T IMPORT TO MELODY AND SOLO in the Chord Wizard, it WIPES ALL TRACKS EVEN IF FROZEN. (The moral here is DO CHORD IMPORT FIRST)
3. Using default synthesizer with the utility tracks is not an option for me when using the Utility tracks for the MIDI's. Or for when a MIDI is imported to the Melody track, because the legacy tracks interfere with the Utility Tracks. So to get around this, I usually setup a blank track (usually the SOLO track) to host another synthesizer occurrence and then I right click and "Reroute to MIDI Plugin", for each track, to that SOLO track.
I can then use the SOLO track as a master for the Utility Tracks, and the legacy tracks don't interact with the levels, etc.
All of the above is cumbersome and shouldn't be necessary.
Unless, I've been missed something in all the time that I've been using BIAB. It's not an easy job to import a complete MIDI to the Utility Tracks and have it work out. At least not using a 16 channel synthesizer.
Alternate short answer. It's far from automatic now. Sorry if I sound frustrated, BIAB
has come a long way!
Thanks Again
