Instead of buying a new Midi Workstation, I think I am interested in buying a new PC and upgrading to BIAB 24.

Is anyone using a touchscreen PC with BIAB? If so, would you recommend one, or should I go with the traditional PC?

Also, what part of the PC (ram, core, hd space) etc would be most important for use with BIAB 24 Windows edition?

I will be upgrading from BIAB 15. Thanks.

Band-in-a-Box may or may not support touchscreen operation. My guess is the program will expect you to use the touchscreen as a mouse. I would stick with a traditional monitor/mouse combination.

A full installation of the Band-in-a-Box Ultra PAK occupies about 160 Gigabytes while the Audiophile is more than 1 Terabyte. If you purchase Band-in-a-Box on a usb thumb drive or external hard drive you can do a minimal program installation and run the program off the thumb or external drive.

2024 Band-in-a-Box is optimized for multi-core cpus. More ram is always better.

I believe you’re right. I looked up my current PC core and I also have Windows 10. I have enough RAM and HD space for the upgrade to BIAB 24 on my PC. I think I just need to get a new PC keyboard, mine just jumps all over the place because my keyboard sticks or jumps when I type because the keys stick from not being used on a daily basis.

I am just getting back into using BIAB on my current PC.

I will also look into buying a new midi keyboard for BIAB .

I have a touchscreen on an old notepad on which I used to use BIAB.
AFAICS it operated as Jim described ... as a mouse.
I'm not sure I tried anything else. Mostly I used keyboard and mouse anyway.

I do use a large touchscreen on a Linux machine to control DAWs and my mixer, but there I have multiple desktops with different sets of software on each.

Band-in-a-Box accepts midi input from midi keyboards, just make sure the midi keyboard you purchase has a midi driver so Band-in-a-Box can recognize the midi input.

If you want to use a midi surface controller with Band-in-a-Box or RealBand, please support my wishlist request for PG Music to add surface controller support to their products +++ HERE +++ and +++ HERE +++

TBH, I have no idea what a surface controller is.

I need to purchase both: a PC keyboard as well as a midi keyboard. I believe the new RealTracks are sufficient enough that I don’t need a new keyboard workstation.

A surface controller is a hardware device that use midi data to control faders and knobs of a DAW track or plugin. One example is the +++ Korg nanoKontrol2 +++

Some midi keyboards such as the +++ Midiplus AKM322 +++ include DAW transport buttons and digital encoders in addition to a piano like key bed.

You can create a touch function panel using AutoHotkey to do any function you like.
